It was yet another busy week in the hotel world. Several luxury hotels have opened in destinations like Crete and Hollywood, while some exciting projects are planned for Dubai, Lisbon, Sydney, and more.

Tella Thera, a Member of Design Hotels, Greece

The all-suite Tella Thera, a Member of Design Hotels, has opened on the Greek island of Crete. The resort has just 20 rooms, 17 of which feature private plunge pools. Amenities include an outdoor rooftop yoga and meditation space, a spa, a salon, a fitness center, a pool, and a restaurant

The Hollywood Grande, Autograph Collection, California

Formerly the Thompson Hollywood, The Hollywood Grande has officially joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Located in the Entertainment District of Los Angeles, the hotel boasts 190 guest rooms and suites

Amenities include a rooftop lounge and pool, and a lobby bar. Guests will be in a prime location in Hollywood, offering easy access to attractions like Sunset Strip, Griffith Observatory, and Hollywood Boulevard.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Rohnert Park Sonoma County, California

If you’re looking to explore California’s Wine Country on a budget, look no further than Hilton’s newest hotel. The 95-room Home2 Suites by Hilton Rohnert Park Sonoma County is just 5 minutes away from more than 400 wineries, plus Sonoma State University and Weill Hall Green Music Center.

25hours Hotel The Olympia, Australia (September 2025)

25hours Hotel The Olympia in Sydney will mark the brand’s debut in Australia. The hotel will feature 109 guest rooms in 2 configurations. Amenities include 4 dining options, bike rentals, and a gift shop.

The hotel is expected to open for guests — cheekily — on September 25, 2025. Rates start at $230 per night. Redeeming points from Accor Live Limitless covers €40 (roughly $47) of your bill.

Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (October 2025)

One of the most exciting announcements this week was the upcoming Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai. The sprawling tower will have 259 guest rooms and suites, with amenities such as 2 restaurants, a fitness center, a spa, an outdoor pool, and more. Rates start at $590 per night.

Andaz Lisbon, Portugal (January 2026)

Some huge news from Hyatt this week: The hotel giant plans to open an Andaz property in Portugal in early 2026. Andaz Lisbon will have 170 guest rooms and suites, many offering views of the São Jorge Castle, Praça do Comércio, and the Tagus River.

Amenities will include several dining options, a fitness center, and a spa.

The Andaz Lisbon is a Category 6 property, and bookings are now available. Award nights here will cost 21,000 World of Hyatt points per night during off-peak dates, 25,000 points per night during standard dates, and 29,000 points per night during peak dates. Cash rates start at around $260 per night.

Crowne Plaza Maroochydore, Australia (2028)

When it opens in 2028, Crowne Plaza Maroochydore in Australia’s Sunshine Coast will have 180 guest rooms. Amenities are expected to include a pool and spa, a gym, sauna, an all-day restaurant, and an outdoor pool bar.

Rosewood Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2029)

Scheduled to debut in 2029, Rosewood Dubai will open alongside Rosewood Residences Dubai. The resort will feature 195 guest rooms, with amenities such as a private beach and beach club, 4 dining options, a wellness center, and programming for children.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach Expansion

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach announced sweeping plans to update its outdoor pool deck next year. Plans for the project include water slides, new pools, family attractions, and new food and beverage offerings.

“This is a milestone moment for Fontainebleau Miami Beach and our vision for what a modern resort destination can be,” said CEO Jeffrey Soffer. “With the addition of these new attractions and amenities, we are creating a fully integrated, large-scale family-focused experience unlike any other in the region.”

Aman at Sea Sails Spring 2027

Several hotel brands have introduced luxury sailings, and the ultra-luxe Aman chain is getting in on the action. Aman at Sea will set sail in the spring of 2027 with Amangati, a 47-room superyacht. Not much is known about Aman at Sea (including pricing), but journeys will include trips to Spain, the Greek Isles, Türkiye, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast.

IHG Hits 1 Million Rooms Worldwide

IHG recently hit a significant milestone: 1 million rooms open. The hotel chain announced this week that it had surpassed 1 million open rooms globally through more than 6,700 hotels. Some recent openings for IHG include:
