Treasure Island Joins Accor, Kimpton Opens in Portugal, Sheraton Debuts in Papua New Guinea, and More Hotel News

This week’s hotel news includes several notable brand debuts, including Accor’s arrival in Las Vegas and Sheraton’s first hotel in Papua New Guinea. IHG has also opened a new Kimpton resort on Portugal’s Atlantic coast, while Hilton is planning new properties in Thailand and the Maldives.

Hotel Openings

Treasure Island TI Las Vegas Hotel – Handwritten Collection

Accor has officially added Treasure Island TI Las Vegas Hotel to its Handwritten Collection. The move marks Accor’s debut in Las Vegas and gives the independently-operated resort access to the company’s booking platform and ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty program.

With 2,884 rooms, Treasure Island is now the largest hotel in Accor’s global network. While guests will be able to take advantage of ALL, the resort will retain the identity it has built over more than 3 decades on the Las Vegas Strip.

Rates start at $69 per night, and you can redeem Reward points starting at a rate of 1,000 points for €20 (roughly $23) off your stay.

Kimpton Quinta da Marinha — Portugal

IHG has opened Kimpton Quinta da Marinha in Cascais, Portugal. Set between the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and the Atlantic Ocean, the 194-room resort offers a coastal escape within easy reach of Lisbon.

Guests will find an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and padel courts, and a spa with 7 treatment rooms. The property also offers familiar Kimpton perks, including complimentary morning coffee and tea, an evening social hour, yoga mats in every room, and no additional fee for pets.

The property participates in the IHG One Rewards program, and rates start at $209 or 33,000 points per night.

Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites — Papua New Guinea

Marriott has brought the Sheraton brand to Papua New Guinea with the opening of Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites.

Located just 5 minutes from Jacksons International Airport (POM), the hotel has 394 accommodations, including 284 guest rooms, 15 suites, and 95 apartments. The apartments have kitchens and separate living areas, making them a practical option for families and extended stays. Hotel amenities include several restaurants and bars, an infinity pool, a full-service spa, and more than 2,500 square meters of meeting and event space.

Rooms start at $150, or 49,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Andamanda Voyage, Curio Collection by Hilton — Thailand (2026)

Hilton plans to open Andamanda Voyage, Curio Collection by Hilton, in Phuket by the end of 2026. The 246-room resort will be part of the Andamanda Waterpark complex, giving guests convenient access to its water attractions, restaurants, and shops. It will be the first Curio Collection property in Phuket.

Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton — Maldives (2027)

The 75-room Coco de Mer Maldives will open in June 2027, about 25 minutes from Malé by speedboat. Amenities will include restaurants, a wellness center, water sports, and pickleball courts.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton Chiang Mai — Thailand (Opening Date TBA)

Hilton has signed a 65-room Tapestry Collection hotel in Chiang Mai’s Old Town. Housed in a heritage building, it will showcase Northern Thai architecture.

Other Industry News

• Marriott renews credit card partnerships: Marriott has renewed its U.S. cobranded card agreements with Chase and American Express. The company says new and refreshed cards with updated benefits are on the way, though we don’t have the specifics yet.
• Marriott adjusts Bonvoy economics: Marriott has lowered the loyalty fees it charges hotel owners by roughly 5% while increasing reimbursements for award stays on high-demand nights. We still don’t know how these changes will affect Bonvoy members.
• YOTEL Miami joins Hilton Honors: YOTEL Miami is the first hotel participating in Hilton’s new Select collection as of August 8, 2026.
• Sonder returns in a new form: TravelAI has relaunched Sonder as a curated hotel and vacation-rental discovery website. The new Sonder does not operate its own properties and is not affiliated with Marriott Bonvoy.
