The month of August ended on a strong note in the hotel industry. Several new luxury hotels have opened in the Washington, D.C., suburbs, as well as in Germany, Canada, and China. We also have the run-down on some exciting new hotels and resorts opening in Saudi Arabia, the French Alps, and more.

Hilton Arlington Rosslyn The Key, Virginia

Hilton Arlington Rosslyn The Key has opened in Arlington, Virginia, just a stone’s throw from Washington, D.C. The hotel has 331 guest rooms, along with amenities such as an all-day restaurant, a fitness center, and 28,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

For guests looking to be close to the action, the hotel is on1e mile from the famed Georgetown neighborhood and a short distance from Arlington National Cemetery and the National Mall.

Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, Japan

Marriott’s mid-scale Courtyard brand has debuted in Kyoto, Japan. Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Shijo Karasuma features 125 guest rooms, adhering to the hotel’s theme of “fusion of modern and past Kyoto townscapes.” Amenities include an all-day restaurant and a fitness center.

HARBR. Hotel Ludwigsburg, a member of Radisson Individuals, Germany

Radisson is growing its swanky Radisson Individuals brand with a new opening in southwest Germany. HARBR. Hotel Ludwigsburg, a member of Radisson Individuals, has opened with 111 guest rooms. Amenities include a bar, a restaurant, 3 meeting spaces, and bicycles for guests to use

Hyatt Place Whitehorse, Canada

Hyatt Place Whitehorse has opened with 115 guest rooms. The hotel opens with some important distinctions: It’s Hyatt’s first property in Canada’s North and the second to open in Whitehorse in half a century.

The hotel features a lobby lounge and a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Other amenities include an outdoor patio, a fitness center, and meeting and event spaces.

Atwell Suites Shanghai Wuning, China

IHG has debuted its lifestyle brand, Atwell, in China with the opening of the first property in Shanghai.

Atwell Suites Shanghai Wuning boasts 174 guest rooms, equipped with amenities such as a restaurant, a café, a boutique store, laundry facilities, fitness equipment, and game consoles for guest use.

Upcoming Hotels

JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay Resort & Spa, Vietnam (September 2025)

A new luxury resort is set to open in Southeast Asia next month. JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay Resort & Spa is scheduled to open for guests on September 15, 2025. The 203-room resort will be the international luxury-branded resort to open in Cam Ranh, a former port city in Vietnam’s South Central Coast.

Amenities include 7 dining options, the famed JW Marriott spa, teens’ and kids’ clubs, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center. 

This is one of the cheapest JW Marriott resorts we’ve seen, as award nights start at just 39,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. Cash rates start at approximately $180 per night.

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, Saudi Arabia (2026)

We recently covered the Miraval The Red Sea’s upcoming opening, which is accepting reservations after March 30, 2026. But there’s more exciting news from Hyatt this week. The hotel chain has unveiled plans plans for Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, a 430-room resort. The resort, situated on Shura Island, offers a diverse range of 9 food and beverage options, a spa, a pool, a fitness center, and more.

Hyatt hasn’t released award rates for the resort yet, so we don’t know how much it’ll cost with World of Hyatt points, but we’ll keep an eye out.

Hilton Hyderabad Gachibowli, India (2029)

IHG announced this week plans to open the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gwalior in India in 2029. The hotel will offer 140 guest rooms, a “dining option,” meeting and event spaces, and a fitness center.

MGallery Collection To Open French Alps Resort in 2027

Accor’s MGallery collection will open a resort in the French Alps in 2027. MGallery Valmorel will feature 82 guest rooms and suites, alongside amenities like a fine dining restaurant, a bar, a speakeasy, a spa, and a ski and snowboard room.

If you aren’t familiar, MGallery Collection is a collection of luxury hotels that aims to craft meaningful guest experiences. You’ll find them in city centers, country destinations, and soon, mountainside resorts. MGallery Collection hotels are known for modern design, high-end cocktail bars, and curated mindfulness experiences. 

MGallery Collection has 120 hotels open worldwide, including 37 hotels open in France alone.

Aero and Four Seasons Resort Maui Launch Semi-Private Jet Program

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea announced a partnership with Aero, a luxury jet company, offering semi-private jets between Los Angeles, California (VNY) and Maui (OGG).

Flights are operated on a 12-seat Gulfstream jet. Passengers will get to enjoy perks such as private terminal access, on-board treats from the TikTok viral Erewhon grocery store, preferred pricing on flights, up to $800 in resort credits, space-available upgrades, and more.

Interestingly, this will be the first semi-private route between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii. However, the luxury experience comes at a price: One-way tickets from Los Angeles to Maui start at around $5,500!

Grand Hyatt Singapore Reopens After Multi-Year Renovation

After years of renovations, the Grand Hyatt Singapore has officially reopened to guests. The 699-room hotel underwent a major facelift and now offers 2 guest experiences: the Grand Wing and the Terrace Wing.

The Grand Wing has 407 rooms and suites, featuring open-concept layouts, while the Terrace Wing’s 292 guest rooms are inspired by nature and natural elements. Hyatt moved the Grand Club (available to Club and suite guests) to the Grand Club and also refreshed the hotel’s 7 dining options and the spa. Finally, the hotel now operates on 100% renewable electricity.

Grand Hyatt Singapore is a Category 6 World of Hyatt hotel. This means award nights cost 21,000 points per night during off-peak dates, 25,000 points per night during standard dates, and 29,000 points per night during peak dates. Cash rates start at around $340 per night.

The Ritz-Carlton To Open First Fiji Resort on Coral Coast in 2030

The Ritz-Carlton will make its debut in Fiji with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay, in 2030. This 249-key luxury resort will occupy a 28-hectare beachfront site on the Coral Coast, just over an hour from Nadi International Airport.

Surrounded by a lush mountainous backdrop and offering direct beach access, the property is positioned to be the most luxurious resort on Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu, marking a significant milestone in Marriott’s expansion in the South Pacific.

Final Thoughts

August ended on a strong note in the hotel industry, as several hotel chains opened new projects this week. We were especially excited to see new hotels open in the D.C. suburbs and Canada’s Yukon Territory. Additionally, some exciting openings are coming soon, such as a Grand Hyatt resort set to arrive in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea.
