It was another busy week in the hotel industry. We learned of several exciting openings, including an InterContinental in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea development, a basecamp-style hotel in Utah, and more.

Plus, there were some big reopenings in Tokyo and Florida that you won’t want to miss.

InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, Saudi Arabia

InterContinental The Red Sea Resort offers 210 guest rooms and suites. Amenities include a spa, a fitness center, swimming pools, complimentary breakfast, and more.

The food and beverage program is the star of the show here, featuring several restaurants that serve Levantine-Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes, as well as a dessert parlor. Next year, the resort will introduce 2 new restaurants: Ardo, serving South American fare, and The 305, a restaurant and cigar lounge inspired by Miami. The resort is an hour’s drive from Red Sea International Airport (RSI),

York Medellin, Curio Collection by Hilton, Colombia

York Medellin, Curio Collection by Hilton, a rebrand of York Luxury Suites, marks the brand’s debut in the city. The hotel features 111 suites, each offering a separate living area and a full kitchen. Amenities include 2 restaurants, a rooftop infinity pool, a spa, and a fitness center.

Morea House, Autograph Collection, South Africa

Cape Town’s 90-room Morea House has officially joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Each guest room and suite features mountain or ocean views. Amenities include a Lebanese-South African fusion restaurant, a poolside restaurant with ocean views, a courtyard, a spa, and a wine room

Slackline Moab, Outset Collection by Hilton, Utah

Slackline Moab, a rebrand of Field Station Moab, is the first Outset Collection hotel, Hilton’s new outdoor lifestyle brand. Serving as a basecamp near Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, the hotel features 138 guest rooms.

Amenities are what you’d expect for an outdoor-focused hotel: there’s a gear shop, an outdoor pool, free parking and EV charging, and an on-site restaurant that even serves trail-friendly meals

Bottom Line:

Hilton is quickly scaling the new Outset Collection brand, with new hotels in Utah and Chicago. There are more than 60 hotels in development, and plans for an additional 500 hotels just in the United States and Canada alone.

Moxy Kathmandu, Nepal

Marriott has debuted its funky Moxy brand in Nepal with the opening of Moxy Kathmandu. The hotel features 101 guest rooms and suites. True to the brand, they’re quite small but well-stocked with essentials, including modular furniture, walk-in showers, and smart TVs.

Amenities include a fitness center, 2 restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a complimentary breakfast buffet. The hotel is located in Durbarmarg, a main business and entertainment district. Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) is just 15 minutes away.

Hilton Arcadia Los Angeles, California

Hilton Arcadia Los Angeles features 173 guest rooms and suites, along with amenities including several restaurants — including Arcadia’s only rooftop bar — a fitness center, and a swimming pool.

The hotel isn’t in the City of Angels proper, but in Arcadia, about 13 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. Still, the hotel offers easy access to Los Angeles, Pasadena, the Rose Bowl, and major attractions across Southern California. Hilton Arcadia Los Angeles is 20 minutes from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) and 33 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Upcoming Hotels

Vaagali Maldives, Vignette Collection, Maldives (Late 2026)

IHG announced this week that it would open a new resort in the Maldives in late 2026. Vaagali Maldives, Vignette Collection, will offer 52 land and overwater villas in 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom configurations. 

Amenities will include a spa, a natural freshwater swimming pool, a sports complex with paddle courts, and a kids’ club. The resort will be a 30-minute speedboat ride from Male Velana International Airport (MLE), which is closer than some other resorts.

Four Seasons Hotel Rio de Janeiro at Leblon, Brazil (2029)

Brazil will get a Four Seasons hotel later this decade. The beachfront Four Seasons Hotel Rio de Janeiro at Leblon is set to open in 2029 with approximately 120 guest rooms and suites, each offering Atlantic Ocean views. The building, currently the Hotel Marina Palace, will undergo a complete renovation before becoming a Four Seasons property.

Amenities will include several restaurants, a rooftop bar, a pool, a spa, wellness amenities, and beachfront activities. The hotel is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Galeão International Airport (GIG).

Park Hyatt Tokyo Reopens After 19-Month Renovation 

The Park Hyatt Tokyo has officially reopened after a sweeping renovation that closed the property for 19 months in 2024. All 171 guest rooms and suites were renovated, each spotlighting contemporary Japanese artists such as Yoshitaka Echizeny and Isamu Noguchi.

Here are the other updates Hyatt made to its crown jewel in Tokyo:

  • A Parisian brasserie, Girandole by Alain Ducasse
  • A new cocktail lounge, The Peak Lounge & Bar
  • New York Grill & Bar, restored to its original black-and-chrome aesthetic 
  • A sushi restaurant 
  • A first-floor delicatessen and pastry boutique, opening in March

Other amenities include a fitness and wellness facility spanning 2 floors, featuring a swimming pool, gym, and spa.

As a Category 8 hotel — Hyatt’s most expensive — award rates cost 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night on off-peak nights, 40,000 points on standard nights, and 45,000 points on peak nights.

Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne Reopens Following $100 Million Makeover

The highly anticipated Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami, has officially reopened to guests. This resort also underwent a top-to-bottom renovation, refreshing its guest rooms and suites, adding a 30,000-square-foot spa, and updating the swimming pools, along with the addition of cabanas. Additionally, the resort offers a variety of dining options spanning Mediterranean, Aegean, and Caribbean cuisines.

As one of the most affordable Ritz-Carlton resorts in North America, you’ll find award rates as low as 62,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Final Thoughts

This week saw a flurry of interesting news, from the opening of an ultra-luxe resort at the Red Sea to upcoming projects in the Maldives and Brazil.
