Wyndham Opens Dolce Resort in Italy, Rosewood Doha, and Other Hotel News This Week

This was another busy — and exciting — week in the hotel world. A handful of new hotels have opened in Italy, Nashville, and Peru, while others are on the horizon in Turks & Caicos and Qatar.

Read on below for our roundup of the most exciting hotel news you may have missed this week.

Hotel Openings

Dolce by Wyndham Siracusa Monasteri Golf & Spa, Italy

Set in a resort that was once a Roman villa and later a monastery, Dolce by Wyndham Siracusa Monasteri Golf & Spa now offers 102 guest rooms and suites in various room configurations. Each room or suite offers a private veranda or balcony.

The resort offers a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, an 18-hole golf course, a fitness center, a spa, 2 indoor and outdoor pools, a steam room, a sauna, and a hydromassage tub.

Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch, Tennessee

Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch is now open in the Music City. The debut of the Canopy brand in Nashville, this hotel has 181 guest rooms and suites. A full 27 suites offer private terraces and skyline views, while the 2-story presidential suite offers a private rooftop terrace and even a baby grand piano!

Amenities outside of your room include 5 dining options, a fitness center, and meeting and event spaces.

Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare, Illinois

Hyatt loyalists have a revamped, affordable points option near Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). The Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare has opened after an extensive renovation, including a move from the Hyatt brand to the Hyatt Centric brand.

The airport hotel offers 206 guest rooms, 24/7 complimentary airport shuttle services, a full-service restaurant, parking spaces, a fitness center, pet-friendly accommodations, and more.

InterContinental Real Lima Miraflores, Peru

InterContinental Real Lima Miraflores boasts 321 rooms, including 29 suites, all with Pacific Ocean views. Amenities include 11 multifunctional meeting rooms, an outdoor infinity pool, and the brand’s signature Club InterContinental lounge.

The hotel shares several amenity spaces (more below) with its sister property, Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores, including dining and a spa.

Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores, Peru

The sister property to the InterContinental Real Lima Miraflores, Hotel Indigo Lima Miraflores features 76 guest rooms, including 10 suites.

This hotel offers a rooftop pool. However, amenities between both hotels include 5 dining options, including a steakhouse, a Peruvian restaurant, a rooftop fine dining restaurant, and a spa.

Upcoming Hotels

Rosewood Doha, Qatar (July 2025)

Rosewood Doha officially opens for guests on July 15; however, reservations are now available. This massive property boasts 155 guest rooms and suites, 162 fully serviced apartments, and 276 residences

True to the Rosewood brand, there’s a heavy emphasis on dining here. Rosewood Doha has 8 different dining options, ranging from an all-day Levantine brasserie to a bar inspired by the “Golden Age of travel.” Other amenities include a wellness club, a padel court, 3 pools, and concierge service. Rates start at $346 per night.

Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay, Turks & Caicos (2026)

Hyatt is making a big foray into Turks & Caicos with plans to open the Andaz Turks & Caicos at Grace Bay on the island next year. The resort will be Hyatt’s first in Turks & Caicos, and will have 59 studios and residences. While some details — such as award rates — remain a mystery, we know the resort will offer several swimming pools, a beach terrace, a spa, a pickleball court and access to snorkeling at Bight Reef.

Holiday Inn SD City Dakar, Senegal (2027)

Slated to open in 2027, Holiday Inn SD City Dakar in Senegal will have 150 guest rooms. IHG announced the news this week as an “important step” in its expansion in West Africa. Not much is known about the hotel just yet, but it will feature an “Open Lobby” concept, a flexible space where guests can work and play. The hotel will be close to Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS), as well as attractions such as the Abdou Diouf International Conference Centre, La Maison des Nations Unies, and Dakar Sports City.

Hotel del Coronado Completes $550 Million Renovation

Hilton has put the final touches on its more than half-billion-dollar renovation of Hotel del Coronado in California. The Victorian building underwent renovations to the front porch and lobby, main entry, courtyard, event spaces, and Hilton also added 2 swanky new restaurants: Nobu Del Coronado and Veranda. Additionally, all guest rooms were renovated, and no 2 rooms are exactly the same.

Marriott To Add More Than 50 Hotels, 9,000+ Rooms in Africa by the End of 2027

There was big news from Marriott this week. The hotel giant announced plans to open 50 properties, comprising more than 9,000 rooms, in Africa by the end of 2027. Marriott will debut in 5 new countries: Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and Mauritania

Four Points by Sheraton São Vicente Resort is expected to open this year, marking Marriott’s debut in Cape Verde. Additionally, Marriott will open an Autograph Collection hotel in Côte d’Ivoire in 2027 and a Sheraton Hotel in Nouakchott, Mauritania, later this year.

Finally, countries such as Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria are expected to lead Marriott’s growth on the continent. In announcing the news, Marriott pointed to the growth of Africa’s tourism sector.

“We are witnessing a transformation of Africa’s tourism sector driven by visionary government agendas, substantial infrastructure development, enhanced regional and international connectivity and diversified travel experiences, all of which are laying the foundation for a thriving hospitality sector,” said Jerome Briet, Marriott’s chief development Officer for the EMEA region.

Hilton Plans To Open 100+ New Hotels Across Africa

Not to be outdone by Marriott, Hilton also announced a significant expansion across the African continent this week. Hilton says it plans to triple its presence to more than 160 hotels across the continent “in the coming years.”

Hilton’s plans include 3 properties in Angola, 1 in Benin, and 2 in Madagascar, all of which are new markets for Hilton. Additionally, Hilton will expand its presence in existing markets, including West and North Africa.

“Africa offers incredible opportunity, from thriving business hubs to vibrant cultures, wildlife, and natural landscapes,” said Carlos Khneisser, chief development officer of Middle East and Africa.

Final Thoughts

It was another exciting week in the hotel world. Several new properties have opened in Italy, Nashville, and other locations. Additionally, 2 major brands announced massive expansions in Africa this week, bringing much-needed mid-scale and luxury points options to the continent.
