Wyndham Rewards Program Overview
Wyndham has over 9,000 properties across more than 80 countries. Those familiar with Wyndham’s budget brands in the U.S. may be surprised at new, upscale properties in the U.S. and resorts around the world.
Wyndham also has extensive timeshares, vacation rentals, and a partnership with Caesars Entertainment.
Joining Wyndham Rewards
Register online for a free Wyndham Rewards account. Wyndham Rewards’ slogan is go free, go fast, go get ’em and its sign-up process lives up to that: just fill out your information and click “Join Now.”
How to Sign in to Your Wyndham Account
Sign in on the Wyndham Rewards homepage.
Viewing Your Account Activity
After you log in, see your activity and elite status progress by clicking your name in the top right corner and then “My Account.”
Points Expiration
There are 2 Wyndham Rewards expiration policies to be aware of.
First: points expire after 18 months of account inactivity. You can avoid this by earning, redeeming, or transferring points.
Second: all points expire 4 years (48 months) after they’re earned, regardless of activity… so you cannot indefinitely stockpile points.
Wyndham Rewards Program Benefits
Wyndham Rewards has revamped its elite status program to offer more meaningful benefits to its frequent guests than it did in the past.
You start as a Blue Member, and with progressively more stays each year you can earn higher status levels.
Blue Member
- 10 points per dollar on Wyndham stays (1,000-point per stay minimum)
- Free Wi-Fi
- Elite qualification rollover nights from year to year
- For every Go Free or Go Fast award night you book in a participating city, you’ll receive a discount code
Gold Member
- All Blue benefits, plus:
- 10% point bonus on stays
- Preferred rooms
- Late check-out
Platinum Member
- All Gold benefits, plus:
- 15% point bonus on stays
- Early check-in
- Caesars Rewards status match
- Avis and Budget car rental upgrades
Diamond Member
- All Platinum benefits, plus
- 20% point bonus on stays
- Welcome amenity (snack or beverage)
- Suites upgrades
- Gift Gold status to 1 person per calendar year
- For every Go Free award night you book in a participating city, you’ll receive 2 free tickets to a local experience
Value of Wyndham Rewards Elite Status
Wyndham Rewards has elite qualification rollover nights, a flexible benefit for earning elite status year to year.
While Gold status has limited benefits, with Platinum you get the valuable early check-in benefit.
Diamond comes with unlimited suite upgrades (subject to availability)… but even at this level, breakfast is not included.
Overall, Wyndham Rewards status echoes its heritage with budget hotels rather than its recent push into more upscale properties.
The Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card comes with Diamond status and the Wyndham Rewards Earner+ card comes with Platinum status, both nice jumpstarts for people who have several upcoming Wyndham stays. The no annual fee Wyndham Rewards Earner card comes with Gold, which is worth relatively little for Wyndham stays.
Earning Wyndham Rewards Elite Status
Earning Wyndham Rewards elite status is straightforward: you earn by the number of nights per year. Both paid and award stays count.
Through December 31, 2022, the status stay requirements are:
- Gold: 3 nights per calendar year
- Platinum: 9 nights per calendar year
- Diamond: 24 nights per calendar year
Status Match With Caesars Rewards
Platinum and Diamond members in Wyndham Rewards and Caesars Rewards can match to equal status in the other program.
Click here to match if you have Wyndham Rewards status, and here to match if you have Caesars Rewards status.
How To Earn Wyndham Rewards Points
Wyndham Rewards lacks the various points-earning options of many other hotel programs.
Without a major credit card transfer partner, your main earning efforts will be through stays at Wyndham hotels and with its co-branded credit cards.
Earning Points on Stays
The Wyndham Rewards earning structure is perhaps the simplest among hotel programs:
- Earn 10 points per dollar on paid stays at all Wyndham brands
- Minimum 1,000 points earned per stay
- Elite status bonuses: 10% for Gold, 15% for Platinum, 20% for Diamond
Earning Points on Stay Promotions
Wyndham Rewards frequently has bonus point offers. Log in to your Wyndham Rewards account and click “Offers” at the top of the main page to see if there is a targeted bonus point offer for you to register for or book.
Earning Points by Booking Meetings
With Go Meet for bookings, you earn 1 point per dollar spent on:
- Stays of 10 rooms or more on at least 1 night of the event
- Meeting rooms
- Event food and beverage
Earning Points With Caesars Entertainment
Wyndham Rewards and Caesars Rewards have partnered to let you earn the same 10 points per dollar with a minimum of 1,000 points on stays at more than 30 Caesars properties.
You can also status match between Wyndham Rewards and Caesars Rewards.
You’re also able to transfer points between Wyndham Rewards and Caesars Rewards.
Earn Points With Avis/Budget Rental Cars
Earn 100 points per day on Avis/Budget rentals. Compare that to other miles or points you can earn for the same rentals.
Earn Points by Credit Card
There are 3 Wyndham Rewards Earner cards from Barclays:
Card | Points Earned at Wyndham and on Gas | Other Point-Earning Categories | Annual Fee |
Wyndham Rewards Earner Card | 5x per dollar | 2x per dollar on dining and groceries | $0 |
Wyndham Rewards Earner+ Card | 6x per dollar | 4x per dollar on dining and groceries | $75 |
Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card | 8x per dollar | 5x per dollar on marketing, advertising, and utilities | $95 |

How To Redeem Wyndham Rewards Points
Wyndham Rewards is known for major changes to its program, and the current iteration is its biggest change ever.
Free Night Awards at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Vacation Clubs, and Caesars Entertainment
Each type of free night award has 3 prices:
- Go Free — 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night for any Wyndham property
- Go Fast — 1,500, 3,000, or 6,000 points per night plus a variable cash copay (generally $25 to $150) for any Wyndham property
You can book these online by searching from Wyndham Rewards.
Free Night Awards at Non-Hotel Properties
You can also book award nights at:
- Vacasa
- Cottages.com
- Landal GreenParks
Go Free and Go Fast work a bit differently for condos and homes. The 15,000/3,000 pricing is per bedroom, so a 2-bedroom unit is double the price of a single bedroom.
Many are subject to minimum stay requirements, but you can mix points and paid nights if you do not have enough points for your entire stay.
You have to call to book these special properties. Each has a different contact number; check terms and contacts here.
Hot Tip: Due to a new partnership in 2021, Wyndham Rewards members can also redeem their points at 15,000+ Vacasa vacation rental properties for a cost of 15,000 points per room, per night.
Other Types of Awards
Wyndham Rewards has additional types of awards or things you can do with your points:
- Tours and activities
- Marathon Gas
- Merchandise
- Gift cards
- Charitable donations
- Point transfer partners
- Converting to cash
Most of these awards are of poor value for travelers. Transferring to airline miles used to be a great option, but it has been drastically devalued.

I have been attempting to join your loyalty scheme as I have used your Days Inn hotel a few times in the last weeks and was happy with the service. Despite several attempts to enter my details I have now given up and decided to keep using IHG hotels. Yours, W.Cullen

Hi William. Sorry you’re having trouble signing up online with Wyndham Rewards. We are not Wyndham Rewards, however, we are Upgraded Points, a website that provides information on points and miles plus other travel-related content. You could call Wyndham Rewards directly and I am sure they would be happy to register you for their rewards program. Here’s their phone number: 1.866.996.7937

I am a La Quinta member and want to transfer points but am unable to do so as the messages keep saying not available at this time. It looks like Wyndham is putting up a lot of roadblocks.
How do I transfer as LQ will not help and they say to contact Windham.

Hi David,
You should be able to transfer your points online, but if you are having problems, I would suggest calling Wyndham if La Quinta is not being helpful.

I am a Diamond member and it says that as a Diamond member we should have a welcome drink or snack at check in. At La Quinta we have not have a welcome anything and have not been able to check in early or leave late?
Christine Krzyszton
April 12, 2019
Hello Jess. I checked out the Wyndham Rewards terms and conditions regarding welcome snack/beverage and check in/check out privileges. La Quinta is included in the brands that should offer these amenities. However, it does say that “welcome amenity varies by brand and participating hotel”. I know occasionally late check out or early check in is not available because the hotel is full but if you’re entitled to a welcome amenity, the hotel should always be able to provide it. I would mention the amenities the next time you stay at a La Quinta property or write to the hotel manager from a past stay and ask what the policy is for that particular hotel.

I have been a La Quinta member for a long time using my corporate card and getting points. I joined Wyndham Rewards and used my corporate card twice and was told that I would not receive points with my corporate card. Is this true?

Hello Bill. I don’t have the answer to your question directly, but I read through the Wyndham Rewards terms and conditions and it excludes “contract rates, third party web-site bookings, wholesale allotment, wholesale discount, and non-revenue generating rates”. If your rate was not any of those, you may want to contact Wyndham Rewards and submit a missing stay request. There is also a message on their web site that explains that they’re undergoing some maintenance issues and the crediting of points is delayed. Their number is 866-996-7937.

Do I earn points for the paid portion of my stays when I use a Go Fast award?
Christine Krzyszton
May 08, 2019
Hi Bradley. Yes, you will earn points on the paid portion of your Go Fast award nights. Per the Go Fast terms and conditions: “Effective beginning April 3, 2019, you can earn ”Base Points” or Travel Partner Currency on the cash portion paid, excluding taxes, incidentals and other applicable fees, at Go Fast Participating Hotels (points or Travel Partner Currency are earned on total amount paid at Dolce Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand and Wyndham Garden hotels).”

Hello. Great article. I’ve searched many places and I cannot find the answer so I was wondering if you know without having to look. I am currently Platinum and would like to have Diamond status so I can match with Caesars. How long does Wyndham give you to reach the next level. I have been platinum for three months. Thank you.

July 12, 2019
Hello Alysha. Qualifying for Wyndham elite status is measured on a calendar year basis. However, once you have stayed the 40 nights (in the calendar year) you will be awarded Diamond status. More information here: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards/member-levels

Hi John,
I think you may have us confused. We are Upgraded Points, a website that provides educational resources to help people make their travels more affordable with points and miles. We are not, and have no affiliation with, Wyndham hotels. You can contact the Wyndham customer service line at 1 (800) 466-1589, and they will be able to assist you with your inquiry.
Thanks for reading!

It appears that Wyndham is the only rewards program of its type that removes points after an 18 month inactivity period. Other programs do not have such a policy. As most people raising children there have been times of inactivity. In 2012 Wyndham replaced my points after going over the period and I used Wyndham loyally since that time until 2018-19 when a was diagnosed for a life threatening illness. After surgeries and recovery period my wife and I decided to start travelling again but noted that when I began searching accommodations my points had expired a couple weeks earlier. I contacted the program and received the following response. As a result I cannot endorse such an unethical practice.
I again state that other programs do not expire points!
Hello Dan, Thank you for contacting Wyndham Rewards®. Upon reviewing your account, I see that this account is inactive. Activity is defined as the earning or redeeming of Wyndham Rewards® points. We had made a once time exception to return points to your account on 02/23/2012. Please be advised, after 18 months of inactivity any points on the account are forfeited. Your account became inactive on 07/31/2019 and the last activity was 01/15/2018. I reactivated your account today, however any points prior to the date it became inactive have already been forfeited. According to the program guidelines a member must keep in mind as they manage their account balance. Accounts will go inactive after 18 consecutive months of inactivity and your points will be forfeited. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Sincerely, Cheryl Wyndham Rewards Member Services

Hi Dan. Sorry to hear of your experience with Wyndham and of course, of your illness. Happy to hear you are recovered and traveling again. Unfortunately most hotel loyalty programs do have expiration policies regarding their points. Hilton Honors points expire after 12 months of inactivity, Marriott rewards at 24 months, and IHG also at 12 months. Most programs require earning or redeeming points to keep the account active. Many hotel programs, including Wyndham, do allow you to just purchase a minimum number of points (usually 1,000), which will also keep the account active.

Hi Sharon. As mentioned in the article, you can transfer points between accounts but there is a fee for doing so. You might want to try contacting Wyndham Rewards customer service line at 1 (866) 996-7937 and explain to them what happened. Perhaps they can help you.

With no notification to the rewards owner, the resort closed. How do I get my points back?
Christine Krzyszton
March 25, 2020
Hi Katharine. A couple of ideas: log in to your Wyndham Rewards account and if the reservation is still there, you can cancel it online. The points will automatically be returned to your account. You could also send an email to Wyndham Rewards or call them at 866-996-7937 or 877-999-3223.

Wyndham does NOT honor the 1000 points minimum per stay. I stayed at a Travelodge over 10 days and had to rebook online bc the front desk lady didn’t know how to extend. I did recieve 1000 points for the first 4 nights but the other nights I only got the 10 points per dollar spent which was below 1000 points in each case. I even used points for a discounted rate at another hotel a few days later and they STILL would not give me the 1000 points per stay, only 10 points per dollar spent which was only 385 points! Wyndham is a lying useless scam of a place.

Baymont by Wyndham in Monroe Michigan will not give you anything for Diamond status. No suite upgrade even if they have all the suites available. If I actually get one from front desk the owners go back and change all all the free stays and add a charge of $25 per night until they get the money back for a clerk upgrading you to a suite . So, during my free nights for 7500 points a night, the clerk upgraded me to a suite and my folio got changed and a $25 fee for every free night, even those a month or two past. The owner said she will never honor Wyndham reward upgrades. They also tried to cover it up by saying the room I was staying in (to get points) was $90 a night, it was $68 a night. I have receipts to prove it and Wyndham does nothing about it I’ve sent proof.

I wonder if they have a limit on the minimum 1000 bonus point per stay. If not it would be easy to abuse by booking 1 day stays and just stack them. Used to be able to do that at Caesars until they fixed it, because it allowed people to stack certain promos that was not meant to be stacked. I was looking into ways to get the most points and if that is the case than my plans need to be reworked.

Is there a cross reference chart showing the specific rate that Wyndham rewards points can be transferred into the various airline rewards program?
Christine Krzyszton
August 23, 2020
Hi Lenny. Although it is generally poor value to redeem your points for airline miles, you can view the list of airline partners here and the applicable transfer ratio by signing in to your Wyndham Rewards account: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards/redeem/travel-points

My fiancee and I are both Wyndham reward members. Can we combine our points or use both accounts for same stay hotel/resort. I understand there is a fee to transfer points from one member to another. How much is the fee to transfer 24,000 points?
Jarrod West
October 07, 2020
Hi Bill,
The cost is $11 per 1,000 of transferred points, so it would cost $264 to transfer 24,000 points – which is almost certainly not worth it. If you’re planning an upcoming stay I recommend just booking the nights from each account and then calling the hotel to link the stay.

Recently discovered that the front desk clerks do not know how to upgrade to a suite for diamond members without charging for it. They could have a dozen suites available for upgrade, but because the clerks are untrained, you will not get an upgrade.

Above, you wrote, “For spending outside of Wyndham, all 3 cards earn the same…”
That’s simply and wildly not true — as your own post demonstrates. Greg @ frequentmiler is among those making a really compelling case that in this case, the business card makes good sense. (with its unusual and quite compelling bonuses for spending… outside of Wyndham) Guessing this essay was a cut ‘n past job from an earlier post, except that there were not 3 card options previously.
You desperately need an editor, who knows the subject.

So far Wyndham Rewards has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Trying to get points added to my account for a 20 night stay. Got transferred several times to agents who couldn’t help. After repeatedly suggesting that the supervisor was busy and asking if I wanted to call back they hung up on me when I asked to wait on hold. I was calling to address the emails that have been ignored to have my points added.

I understand the frustrations upon reading others not getting responses back from Wyndham Rewards Customer Service. I’ve sent two emails whereupon filling out the form, sends a response will be returned to you in 24 – 48 hours. Well, it’s been days upon days!
My issue is the removal of my 27,000 points because my account was inactive for 18 months. If you would just look where all my stays have been over the past years to get those points, is in Canada. I couldn’t travel to Canada since early 2020 because they didn’t allow Non-Essential Travel until 8/9/2021! Completely ridiculous that you didn’t make concessions because of the COVID pandemic. Just a way to take away points from what was a Loyal customer! Go elsewhere to stay people!

Three of us will be traveling together, so I want to book two rooms at a Days Inn. I have more than enough points, but the web site says that I can book only one room. Is there no way that I can book a second room and use my Wyndham Rewards points to pay for it?
Chris Hassan

Hi Linda,
Maybe try booking the 2 rooms separately if the website is giving you issues, or you could call reservations at (800) 225-3297.

It’s worth knowing most of the additional “perks” with Wyndham Rewards don’t actually exist in practice, despite what it says on the website. Your status isn’t ever actually recognized at most hotels in my experience.
Seriously, trying calling a Super 8/Travelodge/Howard Johnson/La Quinta and asking for an early check-in because you’re a “diamond” member. They just tell you no, without checking your reservation, every time.
And hey, I’m not complaining – I don’t expect top end customer service at any budget hotel. Get what you pay for and I’m fine with that. And the free nights do add up rather quickly with this program. Just don’t buy any of the other membership tier benefits. They don’t exist in the wild.
