Key Takeaways

  • With around 9,000 properties in 95 countries worldwide, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has a large footprint and a wide variety of hotel categories to choose from.
  • Wyndham Rewards points are valued at about 0.9 cents each. Free nights currently cost 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night, depending on the property.
  • Earn more Wyndham Rewards points through various strategies, including staying at Wyndham properties, using co-branded credit cards, and participating in promotional offers.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts comprises 25 brands in big cities and small towns, at the beachfront, and in popular vacation destinations. You can find basic-value hotel brands, such as Super 8 and Days Inn, and upscale properties, like an over-the-water bungalow in the Maldives or luxury suites in Paris. Wyndham offers high-end properties with executive lounges, all-inclusive beachside resorts, and even vacation condo rentals.

You could pay to stay at a Wyndham hotel or resort, as there are plenty of affordable properties. But Wyndham Rewards points offer good value for booking free hotel nights, and they’re easy to earn, too.

This article covers why you’d want to earn Wyndham Rewards points, your choices for Wyndham-branded credit cards that can help, and other earning opportunities.

Why Wyndham Rewards Points?

The best-case scenario for any points program is that there are many ways to earn rewards and get good value at redemption time. With Wyndham Rewards, you get valuable rewards points that are also easy to earn.

Value of Wyndham Rewards

The value of each Wyndham Rewards point varies depending on your redemption, but we estimate the general value at around 0.9 cents per point. The higher the cash rate of the night you’re booking, the greater the value you receive for your points.

Wyndham free nights cost either 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night (though the tiers will change somewhat in September 2026).

Ease of Earning Wyndham Rewards

Wyndham Rewards points are easy to earn because there are so many different ways to earn them. You can earn big on its credit cards with welcome offers, everyday spending, and bonus category spending.

Even without a Wyndham Rewards credit card, you can earn when staying at Wyndham hotels, during special promotions, or on car rentals.

Bottom Line: There are so many easy ways to earn a lot of Wyndham Rewards points — and free nights start at 7,500 points per night.

8. Transfer Wells Fargo Rewards

You can transfer Wells Fargo points to Wyndham Rewards at a 1:1 ratio with a points-earning Wells Fargo credit card.

Additional Ways To Earn Wyndham Rewards

Stay at any Wyndham hotel or resort and earn plenty of Wyndham Rewards points. Image Credit: Wyndham

Be sure you’re signed up for Wyndham Rewards before staying at a Wyndham property or participating in any additional reward-earning activities.

9. Dine Out with Wyndham Rewards

Wyndham Rewards offers a dining rewards program called Dine Out with Wyndham Rewards, which is free to join and allows members to earn up to 5 points per $1 at over 20,000 participating restaurants. Bonus rewards apply to both takeout and dining in, allowing you to stack rewards with credit cards that earn bonus points on dining.

New members also receive a dining bonus when spending $25 within 30 days of joining the program.

10. Stay at Wyndham Hotels

Earning Wyndham Rewards on all affiliated hotel stays is simple. You earn 10 base points per $1 spent (regardless of the credit card you use) and receive a minimum of 1,000 points for each stay.

Hot Tip: Since free nights at Wyndham start at 7,500 points per night, even staying at lower-priced properties can earn free nights quickly. For example, staying at a $49-a-night hotel would mean you would only need to spend $735 (15 single-night stays) to earn 15,000 points, good for as many as 2 free nights.

11. Earn Elite Status

Elite status in the Wyndham Rewards hotel loyalty program offers bonus points during your stays. Bonus earnings are over and above the 10 points per $1 a base member would receive. For example, if a room rate were $100, a base member would receive 1,000 points, but a Gold Elite member would receive an additional 10%, for a total of 1,100 points.

Stay just 5 nights in a calendar year and receive Gold status and 10% bonus points on your stay. After 15 nights in a calendar year at Wyndham properties, you qualify for Platinum status and receive a 15% bonus on Wyndham Rewards points from stays. If you stay 40 nights in a calendar year, you qualify for Diamond status and receive a 20% bonus on Wyndham Rewards points from stays.

  • 2,000 bonus points for weekday stays of 2 or more nights
  • 1,000 bonus points for weekday stays of 1 night
  • 500 bonus points for weekend stays

13. Use the Best Rate Guarantee

Book a Wyndham hotel online or by calling the reservation number, and you’re eligible for the Best Rate Guarantee.

If you find a lower publicly available rate on another website, Wyndham will match that rate and give you 3,000 Wyndham Rewards bonus points. Terms and conditions apply.

14. Plan a Meeting

Have a special event or meeting? You earn 1 Wyndham Rewards point per $1 spent on meeting room, hotel room, and associated charges. The paying guest earns 10 points per $1 spent or 1,000 points minimum, whichever is greater.

15. Party in Vegas

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts partners with Caesars Entertainment, so you earn Wyndham Rewards points for stays at Caesars-affiliated properties, too.

16. Rent a Car

Wyndham partners with Avis and Budget, allowing you to earn bonus rewards points on every car rental.

You earn 100 Wyndham Rewards points per day for each booking when applying your Wyndham Rewards number to the reservation. There is also a 35% discount for members.

17. Attend a Timeshare Vacation Presentation

Various Wyndham Vacation Ownership properties offer thousands of Wyndham Rewards points for attending timeshare presentations.

To start, elect to receive marketing and promotional emails when you sign up for the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. You’ll then receive invitations to discounted stays at Wyndham Vacation Ownership properties, with the requirement that you participate in a timeshare presentation.

18. Earn Points With Special Offers

Wyndham runs periodic special offers, including bonus points on stays. Once you’ve signed up for the Wyndham Rewards program, keep an eye on your email for special reward-earning offers.

19. Join the Opinion Rewards Panel

You receive 500 points for signing up with the Opinion Rewards Panel and taking your first survey with Wyndham Rewards.

20. Book Tours and Activities

Members can earn 10x Wyndham Rewards points on experiences booked through Wyndham Travel Bundles. This tool is powered by Viator, providing plenty of booking opportunities worldwide.

You can also book cruises, flights, all-inclusive vacations, and ground transportation through the Wyndham Travel portal.

21. Sign Up for Wyndham Rewards Insider

Wyndham Rewards Insider is Wyndham’s subscription program. In exchange for a $95 annual fee, members receive perks such as automatic Gold elite status, discounted rates, and a 50% bonus on points earned on paid stays. Cardholders of the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card get a complimentary membership.

For a limited time, new members earn 7,500 bonus points for joining Wyndham Rewards Insider.

22. Buy Wyndham Rewards Points

Another way to get Wyndham Rewards points is to purchase them. Visit the More Ways to Earn page on Wyndham’s website and scroll down to where it says “Purchase Points.” You can normally purchase up to 10,000 points per year.

Hot Tip: Check whether there’s a discount or bonus offer available.

23. Earn Points on Ticketmaster Purchases

With Wyndham’s partnership with Ticketmaster, Wyndham Rewards members can earn points on Ticketmaster purchases. The exact number depends on your membership type: All regular members earn 1 point per $1 spent, while Wyndham Rewards Insider members earn 2 points per $1 spent (up to 50,000 annually).

Final Thoughts

Wyndham offers a vast range of properties, and having a variety of lodging is a good thing. If you plan to stay at these properties or are already a Wyndham Rewards member, it makes sense to have a Wyndham-branded credit or debit card.

For frequent stays at Wyndham properties, the best-value card is the Wyndham Rewards Earner+ card. The extra points earned with the welcome offer definitely offset that annual fee, especially if you redeem them for a high-end stay. The extra earnings and annual renewal bonus on this card could also offset future annual fees.

Wyndham loyalists who can utilize all of the benefits of the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card may find the annual fee worth it.

Business owners should consider the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card, which offers higher earnings on hotel stays and bonus earnings on everyday business purchases.

If you stay at Wyndham only occasionally, you might consider a no-annual-fee credit card. Or go with a debit card to avoid a credit pull and earn Wyndham Rewards points while maintaining Gold status.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do Wyndham Rewards points work?

Wyndham Rewards are earned when you make purchases on the Wyndham Rewards credit cards or the debit card, stay at affiliated properties, or complete other qualifying activities. Once earned, the rewards points are deposited into your Wyndham Rewards account (separate from your credit card account) and are ready for you to redeem.

You can redeem rewards for free hotel nights, experiences, merchandise, gift cards, vacation ownership fees and maintenance, or donate to charity. Redemptions vary in value, with reward hotel nights typically offering the best value.

Do Wyndham Rewards points expire?

Yes. Wyndham Rewards points expire if your Wyndham Rewards account is inactive for 18 months or more. Even with activity, the points expire 48 months from the date they are earned.

Wyndham Rewards points that have been earned on your Wyndham Rewards credit card are forfeited if you close your credit card, and the points have not yet been deposited into your Wyndham Rewards account. However, rewards earned on the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card do not expire.

Is a Wyndham Rewards credit card worth it?

If you stay at Wyndham-affiliated properties, having any of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards is worth it. The cards come with elite status that helps you get an upgraded room, free Wi-Fi, and other on-property amenities. The initial welcome offer points, elevated earnings for everyday spending and at Wyndham properties, and anniversary bonus points offer significant upfront and continuing value.

Is Wyndham Rewards Gold or Platinum status worth it?

Elite status can make a positive difference during your stay, and it is automatically included with a Wyndham Rewards credit card.

With Gold status, you receive free Wi-Fi and the opportunity for your qualification nights to roll over to the next year if you exceed the annual stay requirement for Gold status. You also receive preferred rooms and late checkout.

At Platinum status, you receive additional benefits that include early check-in and additional bonus Wyndham Rewards points.
