Among the personal cards, the Wyndham Rewards Earner+ card is a strong option for earning points on your Wyndham stays, along with dining, grocery, and a wide range of travel purchases, if you can’t make use of the additional benefits of the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card and its higher annual fee.

For business owners, the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card earns 8 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays, along with 5 points per $1 spent on business expenses that include gas, EV charging, marketing, advertising, office supply stores, and shipping. Note that the refresh moved gas earning on this card from 8x down to 5x.

Upcoming Award Chart Change: A Fourth Award Tier

Wyndham is making its largest structural change since launching its fixed-tier award chart in 2019. The change takes effect September 15, 2026, so the current chart still applies until then.

Here’s how the 2 charts compare:

Current award chart (through September 14, 2026):

  • Category 1: 7,500 points per night
  • Category 2: 15,000 points per night
  • Category 3: 30,000 points per night

New award chart (starting September 15, 2026):

  • Lowest tier: 5,000 points per night (new, down from 7,500)
  • 15,000 points per night (unchanged)
  • 30,000 points per night (unchanged)
  • Highest tier: 45,000 points per night (new)

The lower 5,000-point entry point is a benefit for booking the program’s many budget-friendly properties. The new 45,000-point tier is a devaluation for some properties, since that’s a 50% increase over the current 30,000-point ceiling. Wyndham says the new top tier will apply to a small number of its most premium properties, such as luxury and all-inclusive resorts, but has not released a full list of which hotels are moving where.

Wyndham is protecting existing bookings. If you book before September 15 and your hotel later moves to a lower tier, the point difference is automatically refunded. If it moves to a higher tier, your booking is honored at the original rate. Because most hotels can be booked up to a year in advance and award bookings are refundable, locking in current rates before September 15 is a reasonable move if you have a specific property in mind.

Qualifying for Wyndham Rewards Elite Status With Credit Cards

Wyndham Rewards offers 3 levels of elite status: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. All of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards can help you qualify. Here are the benefits at each level.

Wyndham Rewards Gold Status

Gold status usually requires 5 nights per year, but you receive it automatically with the Wyndham Rewards Earner card. With Gold status, you’ll receive:

  • 10% bonus points for an effective 11 points per $1 spent
  • Preferred room choice
  • Late checkout (if available)

Wyndham Rewards Platinum Status

The middle tier, Platinum status, usually requires 15 nights per year but is complimentary for Wyndham Rewards Earner+ cardholders. With Platinum status, you’ll receive all Gold benefits plus:

Wyndham Rewards Diamond Status

Top-tier Diamond status usually requires 40 nights per year. If you hold the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card or Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card, you receive it automatically each year you keep the card open. With Diamond status, you receive all Platinum benefits plus:

  • 20% bonus points, for an effective 12 points per $1 spent
  • Suite upgrades (if available)
  • Welcome amenity at check-in
  • The ability to gift Gold status to 1 person per year
Bottom Line:

No matter which level of Wyndham Rewards elite status you’re interested in, one of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards can provide it automatically, without needing to meet any of the stay requirements.

Which Wyndham Rewards Credit Card Should You Get?

The answer depends on what you want from your Wyndham Rewards card and whether you’re eligible for a business credit card. Here’s a use case for each of the 4 cards.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Card: Best No-Annual-Fee Wyndham Card

With 5 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays, automatic Gold status, and no annual fee, the Wyndham Rewards Earner card suits those who want elite status and more Wyndham points on all stays without an out-of-pocket expense. It’s the most basic of the 4 cards, but if you visit Wyndham hotels only a couple of times each year, it may be the right fit.

Wyndham Rewards Earner+ Card: Best Personal Wyndham Card

If you stay at Wyndham hotels relatively often and want a reasonable annual fee with solid benefits, the Wyndham Rewards Earner+ card is a good fit. You get automatic Platinum status (Diamond status for the first year after approval), 6 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays, and 4 points per $1 spent on dining, grocery, and a broad set of travel purchases.

The card charges a $95 annual fee, but you receive 15,000 points each year the card renews, plus a free night award after 5 nights and up to $50 in meal delivery credits. We value Wyndham Rewards points at 0.9 cents per point, making 15,000 points worth $135. Those 15,000 points cover 2 free nights at a Category 1 Wyndham property under the current award chart, or 3 nights once the lowest tier drops to 5,000 points on September 15, 2026.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier Card: Best Premium Wyndham Card

For those who prefer Wyndham to every other brand and stay frequently, the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card is worth a look. It provides automatic Diamond status, 8 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays, and 4 points per $1 spent on dining, grocery, and travel. The $395 annual fee is high, but the card offers several statement credits to help offset it: a $100 Wyndham Hotels & Resorts credit, up to $120 each year for meal delivery (up to $10 monthly), up to $100 each year for streaming, and a $65 warehouse membership credit. Cardholders also receive a complimentary Wyndham Rewards Insider membership and a free night award after 5 nights.

The card earns 30,000 bonus points each anniversary year, which could cover up to 5 free nights at 7,500-point properties after the card’s 25% redemption discount. Once the lowest tier drops to 5,000 points, they could cover up to 8 nights.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card: Best Business and All-Around Wyndham Card

If you operate a small business and frequently stay at Wyndham hotels, the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card is worth considering. It earns 8 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays and 5 points per $1 spent on everyday business expenses, including gas, EV charging, marketing, advertising, office supply stores, and shipping.

For a $149 annual fee, you get top-tier Diamond status, which includes suite upgrades and usually requires 40 nights per year to reach. You also receive 15,000 bonus Wyndham Rewards points each year the card renews, which we value at $135. Those 15,000 points can cover 2 free nights at a Category 1 Wyndham property under the current award chart, or 1 free night at a Category 2 property.

Hot Tip:

If you think you need a brick-and-mortar business to be eligible for a small business card, that isn’t true. Freelancers, those who resell items online, and many other types of business owners may be eligible for small-business credit cards.

Alternative or Additional Cards for Wyndham Loyalists To Consider

Wyndham Rewards has partnered with 5 transferable point programs, letting you earn Wyndham points through cards beyond the co-branded lineup: Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards.

Combining one of these cards with a Wyndham Rewards card can optimize your Wyndham benefits and point-earning ability.

Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card

Among transferable points cards, the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey card stands out for Wyndham fans because Wells Fargo Rewards points transfer to Wyndham at a 1:2 ratio. Each Wells Fargo point becomes 2 Wyndham points, one of the more rewarding transfer ratios available, and the reason we rank this card first among the non-Wyndham options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Wyndham Rewards credit card is best?

The right card depends on your situation. Those eligible for a business card who want the strongest all-around option should consider the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card for its automatic top-tier Diamond status and 8 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays.

If you’re not eligible for a business card but stay at Wyndham often, the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus card offers 6 points per $1 spent on Wyndham stays and automatic Platinum status. For loyal Wyndham Rewards members seeking premium perks, the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card is worth considering. If you want to earn more Wyndham points without paying an annual fee, go with the Wyndham Rewards Earner card.

If you prefer flexible, transferable points, consider a card that earns Wells Fargo Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou Points, or Bilt Points.

What are Wyndham Rewards points worth?

Points value depends on how you redeem them. We value Wyndham Rewards points at 0.9 cents per point.

Do Wyndham points expire?

Yes, your Wyndham points expire after 18 months of inactivity. You can keep them active by earning or spending points. Points earned with the Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier card don’t expire as long as you have the card in good standing.

How many points do you need for a free night with Wyndham?

Through September 14, 2026, Wyndham uses 3 free-night tiers: Category 1 at 7,500 points, Category 2 at 15,000 points, and Category 3 at 30,000 points.

Starting September 15, 2026, the program moves to 4 tiers: 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, and 45,000 points per night. Holders of any co-branded Wyndham Rewards card also receive the Go Free perk, which takes 10% to 25% off award stays depending on the card, lowering the points needed for a free night.

Are Wyndham Rewards credit cards worth it?

That depends on how often you stay at Wyndham hotels. If Wyndham is your chain of choice, you visit a handful of times a year, and you want more points and benefits on those stays, a Wyndham Rewards credit card is likely worth it.
