Another week means another roundup of interesting news in the hotel world. This week saw several new openings in Singapore, Japan, and the U.S., plus some upcoming hotels in Asia.

Hotel Openings

Raffles Sentosa Singapore, Singapore

We’ve covered previous news about the Raffles Sentosa Singapore, and it’s finally open. The brand’s first all-villa property, this 5-star hotel has 62 villas with private pools and terraces. Rooms here are expansive, ranging from a 1-bedroom, 2,300-square-foot villa to a 4-bedroom, 7,000-square-foot Royal Villa.

Outside of your villa, you’ll have your choice of 5 dining options, plus a spa, a ballroom, and direct beach access to pass the day. Raffles Sentosa Singapore is just 25 minutes from Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN), making getting to and from the city a breeze.

Rosewood Miyakojima, Japan

Some exciting news from the ultra-swanky Rosewood brand. The hotel chain has opened its very first hotel in Japan, the Rosewood Miyakojima, and it is stunning. Located in Miyakojima, in the Miyako Islands, the hotel has just 55 oceanfront villas and houses.

You’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the warm culture and hospitality Japan is known for. Amenities include 4 dining options, a spa offering Okinawan-inspired healing rituals, cultural activities, and family-friendly experiences.

Hotel Lela Wilmington, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, North Carolina

Hotel Lela Wilmington, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has opened as a new 4-star hotel in Wilmington, North Carolina. The hotel is located just 5 minutes from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and is 5 miles from Wilmington International Airport (ILM).

The hotel has 97 guest rooms, a restaurant, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, 2,200 square feet of flexible meeting space, and 2 private golf swing suites.

The Hoxton, Florence, Italy

The Hoxton, Florence has opened in Italy. The hotel has 161 rooms set across 2 separate buildings: a 16th-century late-Renaissance palazzo and a 1980s building. There are standard guest rooms, but Ennismore is introducing a new category to the Hoxton brand, “Houses.”

These are 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom apartments with private kitchens, a dining area, lounge, outdoor terrace, and a private entrance. Amenities include a restaurant, a wine bar, and a rooftop.

Hyatt Place Shaoxing Keqiao, China

Hyatt is growing in China. The hotel chain recently opened the Hyatt Place Shaoxing Keqiao, in Shaoxing, a city in easstern China’s Zhejiang province.

The hotel has 167 guest rooms, each with separate spaces to sleep, work and play. Amenities include a buffet breakfast, a market, a bar, event spaces, an outdoor courtyard, and a fitness center.

Upcoming Hotels

Mondrian Maldives (2026)

Ennismore and Accor are growing their portfolio in the Maldives, with the announcement of the Mondrian Maldives, which will open in 2026. 

Interestingly, the hotel will be converted from the Kuredhivaru Resort & Spa (which will remain open during the transition), a Movenpick property. The resort will have 105 villas, including 30 beach pool villas and 72 overwater pool villas. Amenities will include a spa, gym, diving center, kids club, and immersive art installations.

Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami Closing For Renovations

The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami, will close in May for a $100 million renovation, according to the Miami Herald. The hotel — long beloved by Marriott loyalists seeking to spend their points in South Florida, has 291 guest rooms and suites, direct beach access, swimming pool, a spa, and a fitness center. According to the Miami Herald, the hotel says its renovation project “is expected to take at least six months but may last longer,” and the hotel will close during that period.

IHG Adding 900+ Rooms in the United Kingdom and Ireland

IHG has inked deals for 8 new hotels — comprising more than 900 rooms — throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Some have already opened. Still, let’s take a look at what’s coming down the pipeline:

  • Hotel Indigo Leeds (2025): This hotel will have 107 guest rooms and is undergoing a full renovation
  • voco Corby (2025): The hotel will have 104 guest rooms, a bar, a restaurant, and an events space
  • Crowne Plaza East Midlands Airport (2025): With 114 rooms, this hotel will provide “seamless airport access,” more than a dozen meeting rooms, a fitness center, and a restaurant
  • Garner Hotel Reading City Centre (2025): This 53-room hotel will be located in a converted townhouse
  • Garner Hotel Nottingham – City Centre (2025): This hotel will have 100 guest rooms and will include amenities like a bar, a reception area, and a breakfast space
  • Holiday Inn Express London – Woolwich: (2029): The 265-room hotel will become the flagship for the brand in London, and will offer 3 different room types.

Final Thoughts

This was another exciting week in the hotel world, with several ultra-luxe resorts opening in Asia, plus new hotels planned for the Maldives and Europe.
