Hotels.com Adds a Business Travel Mode for Self-Booking Work Travelers

Hotels.com turned on a business travel experience today, September 1, 2026, across its website and app. Travelers who book their own work trips can save a set of work-specific preferences, filter results against them, rebook past hotels faster, and earn One Key rewards on eligible business stays.

This new experience is geared toward people who self-book work travel, rather than for companies that route travel through a managed booking tool. Let’s take a look at how it works.

What Hotels.com’s Business Travel Mode Does

Hotels.com cites its own July survey of 2,000 U.S. business travelers, in which more than a third said they travel for work more often now than before the pandemic. This tool is aimed at these customers who travel for work and book their own hotels.

You check a box at the start of a search to switch to business mode, and Hotels.com pre-filters results using preferences you set once. Those include:

• Fully refundable rates
• Breakfast included
• On-site gym
• Minimum star rating and guest rating
• A maximum nightly rate

The nightly rate cap is a great feature. Set it to your company’s limit, and you stop scrolling past rooms you can’t book (or won’t get reimbursed for if you do).

Quick Rebook covers repeat trips. If you fly to the same city every month, you can rebook the same property in a few clicks instead of running the search again.

Everything else is existing Hotels.com inventory behind a work-trip filter: member discounts of up to 20% on thousands of properties, larger discounts for Platinum members, VIP Access hotels with upgrades and food and beverage credits, and 24/7 phone and chat support. Cancellation deadlines are set by each property and rate, so a fully refundable filter doesn’t tell you how late you can cancel. That’s still on you to check.

How This Works With One Key Rewards

Business mode isn’t a separate account, and you can keep using your same login. That’s because you simply activate a toggle inside the One Key account you already have, so work trips and personal trips stay in one place and rewards pool together.

You won’t have separate pools of rewards, either.

Eligible business stays earn OneKeyCash at the usual rates: up to 2% on eligible hotels and up to 6% at VIP Access properties booked through Expedia and Hotels.com if you have status. OneKeyCash redeems at 1:1, so $1 earned is $1 off a future Pay Now booking. Book $8,000 of work hotels in a year while earning 2% back, and you have $160 in rewards toward a personal trip.

Those nights also count toward One Key status. Each hotel night costing at least $25 before taxes and fees is 1 trip element. Members need 5 elements for Silver, 15 for Gold, and 30 for Platinum in a calendar year. The account that makes the booking earns the rewards, regardless of who’s traveling.

Final Thoughts

The filters and Quick Rebook are time savers rather than a new source of value, and the One Key rewards aren’t any different from what Hotels.com already pays. What’s new is the dedicated work trip experience.
