The World of Hyatt program is back again with its yearly award chart updates. In last year’s devaluation, we saw 183 hotels change in price, with 137 of them, nearly 75%, increasing the number of points you’d need to book an award night.

This year 151 hotels are changing in price, and once again, the vast majority are increasing in price, with 118 properties going up and just 33 going down — a 78% to 22% split.

You’ll have some time to take advantage of the current pricing though, as these new price changes will not take effect until March 25, 2025.

Here is a full look at Hyatt’s award category updates this year, as well as all of the details on what you should do to take advantage of current prices before March 25th, 2025.

Hyatt Award Category Changes 2025 — Details

Before we break down all of the price changes, here are the answers to a few questions you might have.

All bookings before March 25th, 2025, will follow the current award pricing. This means that, if there are any properties that are increasing in price that you want to stay at during any of your upcoming travels, you should get these booked before the March 25, 2025, deadline.
After March 25, 2025, all of the hotels mentioned will follow the new pricing categories.
If you booked an award stay before March 25 and the hotel moves to a lower category, you will receive a refund for the difference. There is no need for you to cancel and rebook.
If you booked an award before March 25 and the hotel moves to a higher category, you will not owe extra points.
If you booked a stay at a hotel that has increased in price before the March 25 deadline but then make changes or modifications to the date of your stay after March 25, the new pricing will apply.

U.S. Hyatt Hotels Moving Categories

As was the case last year, U.S. hotels were the most impacted, with 74 total hotels changing in price, with 61 properties increasing in price and 13 decreasing.

Fortunately, there aren’t many properties moving from Category 4 to Category 5 for those looking for nice properties where they can redeem their Category 1-4 Free Night Award certificates, but that is likely because many of the best sweet spots were removed in previous devaluations.

There aren’t many properties being impacted throughout Africa and the Middle East, with just 2 properties increasing and 4 decreasing. Notably, the Park Hyatt Doha will now be bookable with a Category 1-4 Free Night Award.

In the Asia and Pacific regions, 25 properties are increasing in price and 12 properties are decreasing in price.

For those who are planning a trip to Tokyo and planning to stay at a Hyatt hotel, you’ll definitely want to make your booking before these changes take effect, as a whopping 8 Hyatt properties in Tokyo are set to increase soon.

In Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America, 12 hotels are increasing in price while just 3 are decreasing in price.

It is worth pointing out that this is the 3rd year in a row that the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica, has increased in price. Not too long ago, the property was bookable for just 15,000 points per night, but after March 25, it will set you back 40,000 points per night.

In Europe, 18 properties are increasing in price, with just 1 property decreasing. Again, another fan favorite for Category 1-4 certificates, the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, will not be a Category 5. This means that there are now no Hyatt properties in Paris that are priced at Category 4 or below.

Final Thoughts

Despite some nice properties that will soon be more affordable when booking with points, these changes as a whole are quite negative. This now marks 3 years in a row that the World of Hyatt program has made some rather drastic price changes to its most sought-after properties.

This is why it rarely makes sense to hoard your points and miles, as award bookings regularly increase in price as the years go by. So if you’ve got them, use them!

If any of the 118 hotels increasing in price are properties that you were planning to stay at, you’ll want to make sure to book them before the prices increase on March 25, 2025.
