Hyatt has announced the debut of the Hyatt Centric brand in southwest China’s Chengdu, opening in 2025.

Let’s take a look at the hotel!

Hyatt has announced an agreement for the Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu. The hotel will be located in The Ring commercial complex, which will contain office buildings and a shopping mall.

At this point in time, not a lot of information is known, including the number of rooms or the amenities that will be offered in the hotel. The hotel is expected to open for guests in 2025, though it’s unclear exactly when at the moment.

In announcing the news, Hyatt said that the Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu will focus on “authentic local experiences.”

“Chengdu draws tourists from all over the world who are keen to explore its rich culture and renowned gastronomy,” said Stephen Ho, president of growth and operations, Asia Pacific, Hyatt. “With its focus on authentic local experiences, we believe Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu will be the perfect location for savvy travelers seeking to be immersed and inspired in the destination.”

Booking Hyatt Hotels in China

While we await more details about the opening of the Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu, you have many options for booking Hyatt hotels across Greater China with points. Hyatt has 50 properties in China across several brands, such as Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, and Park Hyatt.

For instance, award nights at the Category 5 Park Hyatt Shanghai range from 17,000 to 23,000 World of Hyatt points per night. Rates are even lower at hotels such as the Grand Hyatt Chengdu — this Category 2 hotel starts at 6,500 points per night.

Bottom Line:

Hyatt is one of the few hotel chains still using an award chart, though the chain does use peak and off-peak pricing. That means you’ll pay more (or less) depending on your travel dates.

While it’s not the easiest to earn World of Hyatt points, if you have a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points, you can transfer them to World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt is keeping pretty mum on details about the Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu, other than the fact that it opens in 2025. We’ll be on the lookout for any additional news we hear about the property, but in the meantime, check out Hyatt’s other properties in China!
