A Hyatt-owned bohemian retreat has opened its doors on the Southern coast of Spain.

La Zambra near Mijas, Spain, is the latest addition to Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection and is now open to guests.

“We are delighted to open La Zambra and bring The Unbound Collection by Hyatt to Costa del Sol,” said Joost Kruissen, General Manager at La Zambra.

Let’s take a look at what you can expect from a stay at the all-new La Zambra.

La Zambra: An Unbound Collection Hotel by Hyatt

The 197-room La Zambra hotel is a renovation of the Byblos hotel — a local icon in the Andalusian hotel world.

“The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is dedicated to inspiring its guests to create their own stories – and ours is one of relaxed, rebellious luxury, thanks to the legacy of the emblematic Byblos hotel,” said Kruissen. “We can’t wait for our visitors to start their own La Zambra story.”

Thanks to local architect studio Estevia I Estevia, guests will enjoy rooms designed with warm and neutral tones and furnishings that echo the hotel’s stunning surroundings. Details such as handmade tapestries, bespoke sinks and lampshades, and ceramic vases are common features throughout the hotel’s rooms and suites.

For the ultimate in luxury La Zambra experience, the hotel features an exclusive penthouse where guests can relax by their private swimming pool, enjoy a meal in the dining pergola, and peruse the offerings of their very own wine cellar.

For a standard room, this Category 5 property will set you back just 17,000 points per night for an off-peak stay, 20,000 points for a standard night, and 23,000 points during peak times.

An “opening offer” is currently available giving guests up to 30% off standard rates.

The lowest cash rates we’re seeing are in December 2022, which start at around $214 per night. When considering cash rates, make sure to use one of our recommended best credit cards for Hyatt loyalists.

Wining and Dining at La Zambra

The hotel offers its guests 4 unique dining concepts.

For all-day fare, Palmito’s serves up a Mediterranean-style menu in both dining room and alfresco settings.

Picador is more akin to a modern-day taverna specializing in Spanish cuisine paired perfectly with a glass of wine.

Over in Bamboleo (like the song), guests can choose from a bar-style Asian, American, and Mexican-inspired menu while sipping on a cocktail as the sun goes down.

And finally, poolside you’ll find La Bartola — the most relaxed of all the settings. It’s more like your quintessential Spanish chiringuito (beach bar) and offers light snacks lunches, drinks, and smoothies throughout the day.

La Zambra’s Location

The hotel is located in the Mijas mountains, around 3 miles from the nearest coastal town of Fuengirola on the glorious Costa del Sol.

Surrounded by the famous Andalusian white villages, a host of golf courses, and some of the most popular Spanish beaches and coastal resorts like Marbella, La Zambra’s location is hard to beat.

At around a 30-minute drive, Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is the closest major international airport.

Final Thoughts

A sophisticated Spanish retreat has opened its doors on the Costa del Sol in the form of La Zambra — an Hyatt hotel from The Unbound Collection.

From the look of the rooms and the sound of the dining options, La Zambra has made its way to the top of our to-visit list.

See you there?
