Hyatt’s opened a new hotel in New York City — but it’s not in Manhattan.

Hyatt has planted its flag in Downtown Brooklyn with a new JdV by Hyatt property — here’s what you should know about this exciting new option for World of Hyatt fans.

Hyatt’s Debut in Brooklyn

The Livingston, part of JdV by Hyatt, is now open and offers 104 guest rooms and suites, including 15 with private balconies. Amenities include a restaurant, a cafe, a rooftop venue, meeting spaces, and pet-friendly rooms.

The Livingston is a fantastic option for Hyatt loyalists who want to stay in less chaotic Brooklyn, rather than Manhattan.

Located in Downtown Brooklyn, the hotel is steps away from attractions such as the Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, restaurants like Junior’s Cheesecake, and shopping.

The Livingston will also appeal to travelers seeking proximity to multiple transit options. The hotel is a few blocks away from several subway lines, including the A, C, 2, 3, 4, 5, B, N, Q, R, and W. Additionally, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is a short distance from the hotel, offering connectionsto New York (JFK) in under an hour.

Bottom Line:

Hyatt isn’t the only chain with a hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. Hilton, Marriott, and IHG all have properties in the neighborhood.

Booking The Livingston

The Livingston is now open to guests and participates in the World of Hyatt program, so you can earn and redeem World of Hyatt points for stays here.

Cash rates start at around $160 per night, which is a great deal for any New York hotel.

The Livingston is a World of Hyatt Category 5 hotel, which means award rates range between 17,000 and 23,000 points per night, depending on dates. While its category means you can’t apply a Hyatt Category 1-4 free night certificates here, The Livingston is one of the most affordable higher-end Hyatt properties in New York City.

It’s still a fantastic deal for a low-cost Hyatt stay in New York, especially given Downtown Brooklyn’s central location and ease of access to Manhattan.

There are a couple of easy ways to earn World of Hyatt points. The program has 2 great transfer partners in Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Rewards. You can also earn points through welcome bonuses and daily spending on the chain’s co-branded credit cards.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt’s first hotel in Brooklyn is now open. While it’s a little surprising that it took so long — given other brands’ presence in the neighborhood — this is still great news for Hyatt loyalists. The Livingston’s central location, affordable cash pricing, and reasonable award rates make this a sweet spot for Hyatt stays in the Big Apple.
