IHG’s One Rewards program offers several easily recognizable elite tiers that you can earn through stays, ranging from Silver Elite up to Diamond Elite.

IHG also offers InterContinental Ambassador, a paid membership that offers add-on benefits and elite perks on stays.

What Is InterContinental Ambassador?

InterContinental Ambassador is still part of the IHG One Rewards program, but it functions differently than the way you normally earn IHG elite status.

Rather than worrying about how many nights you stay or how many qualifying points you earn, you simply sign up and pay the fee.

Membership costs $225 per year, or you can instead pay 45,000 IHG points.

It’s important to note that this list of guaranteed benefits applies at InterContinental hotels, while the other “when available” benefits of Platinum Elite status apply at IHG’s other hotel brands.

Receive up to 25,000 Bonus Points by Renewing

Existing InterContinental Ambassador members who renew by December 31, 2026, can receive 15,000 bonus points upon renewal. This bonus is only available to those who pay $225 for their membership, not those who cover the fee using points.

Members can earn another 10,000 bonus points by staying at least 2 nights between their renewal date and December 31, 2026. These nights don’t have to be consecutive, and they can be with any participating IHG One Rewards property. This offer applies to those who pay cash and those who use points for their membership fee.

Renewing and staying 2 nights by December 31, 2026, will yield 25,000 bonus points. We value IHG points at 0.5 cents each, making 25,000 points worth $125. That covers more than half of the $225 renewal fee for InterContinental Ambassador membership.
