ITA Airways is continuing its transition away from SkyTeam and toward Star Alliance, with a full move into the latter expected sometime in 2026.

That shift was always expected to spell the end of the airline’s Volare loyalty program. Now, we have a firm date: Volare will officially end on March 30, 2026.

Here’s what members need to know.

ITA’s Volare Program Will Go Away on March 30, 2026

ITA Airways has informed its Volare members that the program has been extended through March 30, 2026, and will cease to exist after that date.

Members can continue earning Volare points through March 30, 2026, which is also the deadline to redeem points for award flights on ITA Airways and partner airlines. Those flights can be booked by that date for travel within the following 12 months.

After that, ITA is offering a short fallback window. From April 1 through June 30, 2026, members will be able to convert their remaining points into a Volare Gift Card, which must be used by June 30, 2026, to book ITA Airways or partner flights for travel within the following 12 months.

Members will also have slightly more time to cash out points for products, services from commercial partners, or charitable donations, as those options will remain available through April 30, 2026. So while we already knew Volare was on its way out, ITA has now laid out a much clearer off-ramp for members with points still sitting in their accounts.

Note, too, that ITA hasn’t fully detailed how the handoff to Miles & More program will work, but this timeline makes clear that Volare is now in its final stretch.

The full integration of ITA Airways into the Star Alliance is ongoing, and we now know when the Italian carrier’s current program will conclude. Come March 30, 2026, ITA Airways Volare will become a thing of the past.
