There’s some exciting news coming out of the Paris Air Show. JSX is expanding its fleet, which currently consists solely of Embraer aircraft, to include ATR aircraft as well. The air carrier plans to roll out the new additions in late 2025.

“The ATR-600 series will bring over 1,000 new airports into reach for JSX, expanding access to reliable public charter flights across the great United States,” said JSX CEO Alex Wilcox. “Many of these airports were, until now, reserved only for those who had the means to fly private.”

Here’s what you need to know.

JSX To Roll Out ATR Flights in Late 2025

JSX, the semi-private air carrier, plans to lease 2 turboprop ATR 42-600s to add to its existing fleet of Embraer ERJ-135 and ERJ-145 aircraft. Currently, JSX operates a fleet of 48 Embraer ERJ aircraft.

The new aircraft will be either ATR 42-600s with 30 premium seats or an all-business-class ATR 72-600 with 30 seats. This marks ATR’s entry into the U.S. public charter network, where JSX has a strong presence.

JSX says it plans to install Starlink high-speed internet connectivity on the aircraft. According to the air carrier, JSX will begin ATR flights in late 2025. An exact date hasn’t been announced.

If you aren’t familiar, ATR is the largest regional aircraft manufacturer with its ATR 42 and 72 aircraft. These aircraft are among the best-selling in the below-90-seat market. ATR aircraft are flown on approximately 200 airlines in over 100 countries.

Bottom Line:

This is interesting news for JSX, given that you won’t find airlines operating ATR aircraft in the continental United States. The only airline that did, Silver Airways, ceased operations earlier this month. The carrier had a small fleet of 8 ATR jets that are now grounded.

About JSX

Founded in 2016, JSX operates as a “hop-on” public charter jet service. It operates 100+ public charter flights with scheduled service to 27 destinations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Texas and Mexico.

JSX is notable in that it offers similar amenities to those found when flying private. The air carrier offers the ability to check in 20 minutes before domestic flights (or 45 minutes for international flights), planeside baggage retrieval within minutes of arrival, and inflight drinks, snacks, and cocktails.

You can book JSX tickets directly with the air carrier or through JSX’s airline partners JetBlue and United Airlines, where you can earn points or miles on your purchase.

The ATR acquisition is part of a big plan for growth at JSX, adding new routes and new pre-departure lounges at select airports and working to become the first carrier to operate hybrid-electric passenger flights.

Final Thoughts

This is pretty exciting news for JSX, which is expanding its fleet by leasing 2 ATR 42-600s. What’s even more exciting is that these aircraft will also be equipped in the ways that make JSX special: spacious seats in a smaller, more intimate cabin, as well as high-speed Wi-Fi. We look forward to checking out the ATR 42-600 when they roll out later this year.
