Your all-inclusive resort options just got a lot more exciting, because the opening of the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, is just a few months away.

Reservations are available starting today, May 14, for cash bookings, as first reported by The Points Guy. Here’s what those initial room rates look like and everything else you should know about this new all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica.

JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort Opening in October 2026

The JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa marks the first all-inclusive property in the JW Marriott portfolio. In its former life, the resort was the Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica, a previous all-inclusive property affiliated with World of Hyatt.

After being acquired in March 2025, the property underwent renovations to align with the JW Marriott brand.

The resort will feature nearly a dozen restaurants and bars, all included in the nightly rate, ranging from buffet dining to specialty cuisine venues. The property will be popular for families with its direct beach access, more than 40,000 square feet of pools and spa facilities, and upgraded room categories that include butler service and access to private resort amenities.

How To Book

Reservations are now open for stays beginning October 15, 2026, and bookings are available through dates nearly year from now. The all-inclusive rate covers accommodations, meals, snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, non-motorized water sports, kids’ activities, taxes, service charges, and gratuities.

Cash rates for a standard room based on double-occupancy start around $600 per night, though rates can exceed $1,000 during the peak travel season from December through April. Hotels in the Guanacaste region aren’t cheap, so when you factor in the all-inclusive perks, the room rates don’t feel quite as steep as they might at first glance.

Unfortunately, points redemptions for the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa aren’t yet available. We’re closely watching to see what award pricing will look like once it launches and whether the redemption rates provide strong value. We’ll keep you updated as soon as points bookings open, so you can be among the first to evaluate whether an award stay is worth it.

Whether you’re planning to redeem points for a stay or pay cash for the resort, it’s a smart idea to have a Marriott credit card like the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy® American Express® Card, both earning 6x points on eligible purchases at Marriott Bonvoy properties.

Hot Tip:

All Marriott Bonvoy members receive a fifth night free on eligible award stays, which could make the sweet spot at the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa a strategic 5-night redemption. By booking 5 consecutive nights with points, travelers would effectively pay the points cost for just 4 nights.

Final Thoughts

This all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica is one of the most anticipated hotel openings of 2026, and cash bookings are now open. While points rates haven’t been released just yet, we’re keeping a close watch so we can share the best ways to redeem your hard-earned points for a stay here once award availability goes live.
