Big news for IHG Hotels & Resorts loyalists — the brand will open its Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property in Italy in 2025.

Let’s take a look at the exciting news!

IHG’s Newest Italian Hotel in Sicily

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced that it will debut the brand in the Italian region of Sicily.

The 59-room hotel will be located in Taormina on the island’s east coast. Amenities will include a breakfast room and bar terrace, an outdoor Mediterranean garden, a swimming pool, and a tennis court.

While IHG hasn’t announced a name for the property, it is expected to open for guests in the second half of 2025.

“Italy has long been known for its reputation of luxury travel, breathtaking coastal locations, and vibrant communities – and our growth strategy in the country has been designed to complement this,” said Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is 1 of IHG’s most well-known brands, falling under the luxury and lifestyle umbrella. The brand focuses on inspiring design choices along with high-end dining. Today, you’ll find nearly 80 Kimpton properties across a dozen countries.

IHG has been on a roll in recent years as it expands its portfolio in Italy. In 2023 alone, the chain opened Six Senses and InterContinental properties in Rome and a Hotel Indigo in Florence. IHG says it has plans for 2 additional Hotel Indigo properties in Turin and Trieste over the coming years and a Vignette Collection property in Rome in 2025.

Hot Tip:

While the Sicily property is Kimpton’s first hotel in Italy, it has a solid presence across Europe. You’ll find Kimpton hotels in cities like BarcelonaParis, and London.

Booking IHG Hotels in Italy

While we await the Kimpton property to open in Sicily next year, let’s look at other IHG hotels to book. IHG has a portfolio of more than 2 dozen hotels in the country spanning several brands.

For instance, you can find a 1-night stay at Hotel Indigo Rome – St. George starting at around $400 or 70,000 IHG One Rewards points this August.

Luckily, it’s easy to earn IHG One Rewards points. You can transfer Bilt Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards or earn points through a welcome bonus offer or daily spending on some of the best cards for IHG loyalists.

Final Thoughts

IHG will open a new Kimpton hotel in Italy next year, which is exciting news for fans of the brand.

With Sicily having just a few major hotel brands on the island, the new Kimpton should prove popular among travelers looking for more ways to earn and redeem points in Italy!
