LATAM is finally introducing a genuine long-haul premium economy cabin to its fleet. While the airline currently offers a forward cabin marketed as premium economy on short-haul flights, it hasn’t extended the product to its long-haul routes. But that’s all about to change.

Here’s what you need to know.

LATAM Rolls Out Premium Economy for Long-Haul Flights by 2027

As reported by One Mile at a Time, LATAM plans to introduce its long-haul premium economy cabin beginning in the first half of 2027.

It will be called Premium Comfort, and will be found on its 41 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, of which it has the -8 and -9 variants.

The rollout won’t include Boeing 767s or 777s, at least initially. Given typical lead times for these installations, it may take time before the first planes are reconfigured.

The Premium Comfort cabin will feature Recaro PL3530 seats with 40 inches of pitch, 8 inches of recline, 16-inch 4K screens, Bluetooth audio pairing, and both AC and USB-C charging. That’s notably generous compared with the industry standard of around 38 inches of pitch for premium economy.

LATAM will be the first airline in Latin America to offer long-haul premium economy, a major development for travelers in the region.

The carrier has been on a mission lately to significantly enhance its Boeing 787 fleet and elevate the passenger experience on its long-haul flights. For instance, LATAM launched a new business class, featuring suites with doors for added privacy that have already begun operating on select U.S. routes.

Hot Tip:

If you’re planning to fly LATAM once these seats debut, keep an eye on the 2027 booking windows. As the first long-haul premium economy option in Latin America, these seats will likely be in high demand, especially on routes between the region and North America or Europe.

Final Thoughts

LATAM’s Premium Comfort cabin fills a clear gap in the Latin American market. Spacious seats, modern amenities, and the distinction of being the first airline in the region to offer long-haul premium economy make this a cabin to watch.

While 2027 is still a ways off, savvy travelers can start planning early if they want to secure one of these seats on the region’s newest long-haul premium product.
