If you’re set to fly LATAM’s business class next year on the Dreamliner 787-8 or 787-9, you could be in for a lovely surprise.

South America’s largest airline is set to launch its new business class, featuring suites with doors for greater privacy, in the first quarter of 2025.

Here is what we know about LATAM’s exciting announcement.

LATAM’s Suites With Doors Business Class Will Launch in Early 2025

Starting in the first quarter of 2025, travelers flying in business class on LATAM’s Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 planes will get to experience new suites with doors for extra privacy.

According to LATAM, these suites will mix privacy and comfort while also incorporating a design influenced by South American elements, such as “granite tables inspired by the Andes, interior contours evoking Brazil’s sand dunes, and copper accents that pay homage to the region’s heritage.”

The new business class cabin is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2025, with plans to reconfigure 24 planes by the end of 2026.

The first aircraft to showcase the new business class is now grounded in São Carlos, one of the largest aircraft maintenance centers in South America. The airline invested $7 million in a new hangar at the facility that is dedicated exclusively to Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

These new business-class seats will have sliding doors, making LATAM the first airline in South America to provide this unique hard product. Every suite converts into a lie-flat bed, ideal for catching some rest on those long-haul flights between the U.S. and South America.

The new 787-8 will include just 20 business class seats, as the cabin size has been reduced. The 787-9s will maintain a capacity of 30 business seats, consistent with the current variant.

Passengers flying in LATAM’s business class on either of the 787 variants equipped with the new suites will benefit from direct aisle access, a dedicated shoe compartment, plenty of storage space, and USB-A and USB-C charging outlets. Each suite will also include an 18-inch high-definition screen for the inflight entertainment experience.

In comparison, LATAM’s newest business class — configured in a 1-2-1 setup on its 777, 767, and select 787-9 aircraft — while not cutting-edge, offers a comfortable lie-flat bed, and the airline is known for providing excellent service.

However, when the new business class suites are installed and flights begin in early 2025, the business class offering on LATAM’s 787-8 and remaining 787-9 aircraft will significantly improve LATAM’s premium passenger experience. It will replace the dated cabin with a 2-2-2 layout.

“This new design is a celebration of our region, its landscapes and the rich culture of South America,” said Jaime Cornejo, manager of cabin interiors and IFEC at LATAM Airlines. “By incorporating these influences into our cabins, we offer a superior travel experience that reflects our cultural identity, while prioritizing privacy, comfort, convenience.”

Hot Tip:

Although it may not be the most luxurious business class available, we’re fans of LATAM’s present-day business class offering on its Boeing 787-9, 777, and 767 planes. And yet, we expect that the new suites with doors will improve the passenger experience even more. Final Thoughts

LATAM is elevating its business-class experience on several of its 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft with the introduction of a new business class featuring an enclosed suite complete with a privacy door.

Keep an eye out if you’re gearing up for a business class flight on a LATAM Boeing 787 in 2025. You could be in for a treat.
