Scottish airline Loganair has adopted Avios as its miles currency, scrapping its former Clan Points.

As of March 31, 2025, Avios can also be transferred between British Airways Club and Loganair’s newly rebranded frequent flyer program: Logan Loyalty.

Best of all, the maximum number of points you’ll need for all Loganair flights is just 6,500 Avios, as highlighted by AwardWallet. This opens up a whole new world (albeit niche) of redemption possibilities.

Let’s take a look at the details and what this means should you take a trip around the U.K.

Fly Scottish Airline Loganair for Just 6,500 Avios

Avios is a popular miles currency that is easily transferrable between the loyalty programs of several airlines, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar Airways, and Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling.

As of March 31, 2025, regional U.K. airline Loganair is joining the Avios party. However, transfers can only be made between British Airways Club and Loganair’s Logan Loyalty. However, you can move Avios onward from British Airways to these other programs.

Redemptions on all Loganair flights, regardless of the duration, are just 6,500 Avios plus taxes and fees.

Loganair is the only carrier to operate many of the services on its niche route network. As such, cash fares can often be very expensive — even on short domestic hops within Scotland.

For example, this almost 2-hour flight from Newquay (NQY) in Cornwall in southern England to Edinburgh (EDI) in Scotland could set you back $216 for a one-way flight.

The taxes and fees for the flight are $49. Factoring in the cash value equivalent of the 6,500 Avios at around $81 (as per Upgraded Points’ valuations), the total cash equivalent for this ticket would be $130. That’s a saving of $86!

Avios can be earned by flying Oneworld member airlines and crediting flights to the loyalty programs of the airlines mentioned above.

Hot Tip:

There are many other ways to bolster your stash of Avios other than flying, such as using a British Airways cobranded credit card or transferring points from one of several travel rewards credit cards.

Where Does Loganair Fly, and What’s It Like?

Loganair is a Scottish airline that operates a fleet of popular regional aircraft, such as ATRs and Embraer 145s.

Its routes mainly connect Scotland with the rest of the U.K., though it also operates some domestic routes within England. Before Loganair adopted Avios as its mileage currency, there was no way of redeeming miles from popular credit card programs on the vast majority of these routes.

The carrier also operates routes to destinations outside of the U.K., such as Bergen (BGO) in Norway, Dublin (DUB) in Ireland, Esbjerg (EBJ) in Denmark, and Stavanger (SVG) in Norway.

Those wishing for a slightly off-the-beaten-track European adventure will be able to use Avios on these routes, too.

Flying Loganair is generally a very pleasant experience. Scottish hospitality is always warm and welcome, and the complimentary Tunnock’s caramel wafer biscuits are just as Scottish as the tartan antimacassars.

Final Thoughts

Loganair has gone from an airline you probably haven’t heard of to an airline you need to know about — all over night.

While the airline operates a bunch of niche routes, the ability to redeem Avios on its flights has the potential to save you hundreds of dollars on a trip around the U.K. and beyond.
