A familiar Midtown Manhattan hotel has joined Marriott’s Luxury Collection, and Bonvoy members holding an 85,000-point Free Night Award should pay attention.

The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City, has officially opened at 151 West 54th Street, marking the return of Marriott’s The Luxury Collection brand to the city. Just steps from Central Park, Carnegie Hall, and Broadway, the 54-story property features 562 all-suite accommodations — among the largest in Midtown — with some suites spanning an impressive 2,700 square feet.

The hotel is certainly appealing, but the real draw for Bonvoy members is its award pricing.

A Familiar Address With a New Name

If the address sounds familiar, it should. This property operated for years as the Conrad New York Midtown, a Hilton hotel that was well-regarded for its suite-heavy inventory and Midtown location.

Since then, it has transitioned into the Marriott portfolio, relaunching as The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City. Conrad sat at the top of Hilton’s portfolio, so the move to Luxury Collection puts this hotel in comparable company on the Marriott side.

The hotel itself has been renovated and repositioned, with a new restaurant called Dabble at lobby level, 4,735 square feet of event space, and a daily ritual called the Epicurean Moment — an afternoon cheese and wine service using product from Murray’s Cheese in New York.

The redesign leans into a residential feel. Suites feature separate living rooms, oversized layouts, and bathrooms that feel more like a Manhattan apartment than a hotel room. For a Midtown NYC stay, that kind of space is genuinely rare.

How To Book

Good news for points travelers: The London has award nights starting at 85,000 Bonvoy points on some dates, which means a standard Marriott Free Night Award worth up to 85,000 points covers it outright on those nights.

Other dates are available around 90,000 points, so you’d need to top up with a handful of additional points beyond the certificate. That’s a pretty painless workaround if you’re holding a certificate from a credit card anniversary or a promotion.

Not every night will be available at that rate. Peak dates around holidays and major events can push the points price significantly higher, and the certificate won’t cover those stays. On the cash side, rates start around $520 per night after taxes and fees on some dates, but $900 to $1,000 or more is realistic during busy periods.

If you’re finding dates where cash rates are sitting in the $700–$1,000 range and points are holding close to 85,000, that’s solid Bonvoy redemption value — roughly 0.82 to 1.18 cents per point. That’s better than our average valuation of Marriott points at 0.7 cents each. The $35 daily destination fee applies to both cash and award bookings, so factor that in regardless of how you pay.

Hot Tip:

These are our favorite ways to redeem Marriott Free Night Awards for optimum value.

Final Thoughts

The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City is a genuinely interesting addition to the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio — especially for anyone sitting on an 85K Free Night Award. All-suite inventory in Midtown Manhattan at these rates doesn’t come around often.

Just make sure to avoid peak dates, and you’ll be looking at one of the better urban redemptions the program currently offers.
