Lufthansa is in the midst of launching FOX (Future Onboard Experience), which has involved a complete reimagination of the passenger experience from the front to the back of the plane.

The enhancements to first class were introduced on Sunday, March 20, 2026, and now feature on all its long-haul flights that offer a first class cabin.

Here’s what we can expect.

The Finest of Dining Comes to Lufthansa First Class

Lufthansa is starting from the top with the rollout of FOX. And by the top, I mean the very fortunate few sitting at the front of the plane.

After unveiling its new BABOR amenity kits earlier in March, Lufthansa has now detailed several enhancements to the first class dining experience.

Chef Christoph Kunz (of the 2-Michelin-star restaurant KOMU in Munich, Germany) has curated a menu you might associate more with a fine dining restaurant. Passengers can even opt to savor the delights of a tasting menu rather than a regular old main course. Other than Japan Airlines’ multiple-course Japanese menu, I’m pretty certain Lufthansa’s inflight tasting menu is the first of its kind. Exact details, including how many courses, are yet to be revealed.

As in the air as on the ground, the fancier the food, the smaller the portions become. Lufthansa describes the new menus as “modern, light fine dining,” so if you get hungry when flying, you might need to fill up in the lounge.

For example, the amuse-bouche, appetizer, and dessert courses are now served as a trilogy of smaller dishes rather than a single larger dish.

Lufthansa has also added some bells and whistles to its caviar service, namely, blinis and a mother-of-pearl spoon.

And to wash it all down, the German flag carrier is introducing Prestige cuvée La Grande Dame by Veuve Clicquot. It is now served as a second option on every flight in addition to its classic rotating Champagne menu.

As of May, passengers flying in Lufthansa’s business, premium, and economy cabins will enjoy FOX enhancements for the first time. We expect to hear more soon about what exactly that will entail.

Hot Tip:

The FOX experience will be enjoyed by all passengers; however, owing to the slow and arduous task of installing Allegris seats on both new and old planes, the hard product (seat, cabin, etc.) varies drastically depending on the Lufthansa plane you’re flying. For example, the only U.S. routes on which you can fly the Allegris first class seat are from Munich (MUC) to Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), San Diego (SAN), and San Francisco (SFO), and only when the flight is operated by the Airbus A350-900.

Final Thoughts

From what I’ve read and seen, Lufthansa’s new first class dining promises to be exquisite. The experience will be better still for passengers enjoying these new FOX enhancements in an Allegris first class suite. Let’s hope Lufthansa has invested a proportionate amount of time and money into its business, premium, and economy cabins, too.
