In 2023, we saw the Hyatt and MGM partnership dissolve, while a new partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards was announced. Details have been slow to emerge, making today’s news much more exciting.

We now have a better idea of what the Marriott/MGM relationship will signify for members. Let’s take a look at the details.

New Details of the MGM and Marriott Partnership

Almost immediately after ending its partnership with Hyatt in September of 2023, MGM Rewards announced a new partnership with Marriott, which included the creation of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.

Now, new details are emerging about what members of both programs can expect in 2024.

What Marriott Bonvoy Members Can Expect at MGM Resorts

Marriott Bonvoy members will soon be able to earn and redeem Marriott points at 17 MGM Resorts (about 40,000 rooms), including locations like Aria Resort and Casino, Bellagio Hotel & Casino, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

In addition, Marriott Bonvoy elite members will be eligible for additional perks at MGM properties when booking through Marriott. These benefits will be available in early 2024.

As a Marriott Bonvoy member, you can expect the following based on your elite status level when staying at an MGM resort:

There are additional benefits for Ambassador Elite members that will be offered through December 31, 2024. It’s reasonable to assume that Marriott and MGM will be evaluating these benefits throughout 2024, so we may see some of them added to the ongoing list of perks valid in 2025 and beyond.

  • 1 suite upgrade per year in Las Vegas, up to 3 nights
  • 15% discount at participating retail outlets
  • Complimentary self-parking, when available
  • Dedicated lines at participating restaurants, buffets, and cashier’s cages
  • Discounts to select shows
  • Early 1 p.m. check-in, when available and with 24-hour notice
  • Expedited valet and taxi service
  • Guaranteed hotel reservations within 24 hours
  • Priority reservations for fine dining, pool cabanas, spa, and salon
  • VIP line at select nightclubs in Las Vegas
  • Waived resort fee
Hot Tip:

Marriott Bonvoy members won’t be able to status match to MGM Rewards. However, they will receive a set of perks and benefits at MGM properties when booking through Marriott.

What MGM Rewards Members Can Expect at Marriott Properties

MGM Rewards members will be able to status match to the Marriott Bonvoy program.

  • MGM Gold members will match to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.
  • MGM Platinum members will match to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
  • MGM Noir members will match to Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite status.

Final Thoughts

It’s good to see more details emerge about how the new Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards partnership will work. At first glance, the benefits for Marriott members are less exciting than the benefits Hyatt members enjoyed through MGM. However, it’s likely the program could be adjusted down the line.

Regardless, this is great news for Marriott Bonvoy loyalists. We’ll keep tabs on when an official launch date and any additional benefits are announced, so stay tuned for more details about this evolving relationship between Marriott and MGM Rewards.
