Delta Air Lines is increasing the amount of value you’ll get when redeeming Delta SkyMiles towards a Delta Vacations package. Now, miles will be worth 15% more when you use them to cover the cost of your flight and hotel, or flight and car rental package, providing another way you can spend your SkyMiles.
What Is Delta Vacations?
Delta Vacations is part of Delta Air Lines, and it’s an arm of the company where you can purchase multiple components of your vacation in one purchase, such as your flight and hotel, or your flight and car rental. You can’t purchase one individual component on its own, but you can combine several elements into 1 purchase, allowing you to save on money since you’re bundling everything together.
Delta has access to discounted rates due to the bundling of the hotel or car with your airfare, and is generally able to offer a better rate on those items than had you priced out each one separately.
What’s Changing?
You can use your SkyMiles to offset the cash cost of a Delta Vacations package. When you do this, you’ll now receive 15% more value on those miles when redeeming. Alternatively, you can also use your miles to book awards on Delta or its partners or use those miles to reduce the cash cost of a flight, though the latter of those options provides much less value.
When booking through Delta Vacations, you’ll earn miles on your travels, as well as credits toward elite status, which is one reason why you may wish to consider booking through Delta Vacations vs. redeeming your miles for free travel.
Hot Tip:
The higher elite status you are on Delta, the more miles you’ll earn on your Delta Vacations package.
Over the next few weeks, you’ll also notice a change to the booking flow on the Delta Vacations website, making it much easier for you to book.
Final Thoughts
Delta is making your SkyMiles more valuable when redeeming for travel on Delta Vacations. Be sure to compare the costs of combining your flight, hotel, and car rental with miles through Delta Vacations versus purchasing individually, to see if this approach will save you miles on your next trip.
