Hotel giant Marriott has confirmed that changes are coming to its recently acquired brand citizenM. While citizenM doesn’t offer elite status the way you’re used to — no stay requirements, just pay a fee instead — it does have a tier that comes with extra perks. Now, Marriott has confirmed that changes are coming to the mycitizenM+ program.

Let’s take a look at upcoming changes to the mycitizenM+ progarm and how it will start providing perks across the entire Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

What Is mycitienM+?

While its footprint isn’t massive, citizenM offers 36 hotels in popular tourist destinations, such as Amsterdam, Boston, Glasgow, and Kuala Lumpur. These hotels are known for their centralized locations and public spaces, which are great for hanging out or working.

Unlike hotel programs that require you to track nights or spending to achieve elite status, mycitizenM+ is easy: Just pay the fee to get this status. The cost is currently $120 each year, and it provides the following benefits:

  • 15% off all stays
  • 15% off food and drinks
  • Up to 30% off during sales
  • 2 p.m. late checkout
  • Complimentary upgrades to rooms with premium views
  • Access to exclusive deals
  • Discounts on meeting rooms and complimentary coworking benefits

Marriott Confirms Upcoming Changes to mycitizenM+

Marriott announced plans to acquire citizenM earlier this year in a $355 million deal, which was completed in late July. While there’s no official timeline yet, we expect citizenM properties to start participating in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program soon.

Now, Marriott has contacted mycitizenM+ members to inform them of upcoming changes, and a spokesperson for Marriott has confirmed that these changes will take place on October 28, 2025.

First, the cost of mycitizenM+ membership will increase from $120 to $170 after October 28, so signing up before then could make sense if you’re interested.

Additionally, mycitizenM+ members will gain complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, providing perks like room upgrades, bonus points on paid stays, bonus points as a welcome gift at check-in, exclusive member rates, priority requests for 2 p.m. late checkout, and more.

Beyond the price change and Marriott elite status, other elements of mycitizenM+ aren’t changing.

Hot Tip:

There are other options for getting Marriott’s Gold Elite status rather easily. Having the right Marriott credit card can give you this status (or maybe even a higher tier) each year you have the card in your wallet.

Final Thoughts

On October 28, mycitizenM+ will gain a perk and get more expensive. This isn’t surprising, given Marriott’s recent acquisition of the citizenM hotel portfolio and plans to incorporate these 3 dozen properties into the wider Marriott portfolio.
