Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Southwest Airlines has recently renewed a coupon (that you probably didn’t know existed!) and added another points-earning opportunity for credit cardholders.

These promos can be found in your Southwest account, but they aren’t obvious, so many people probably don’t know they are there.

Let’s check out these somewhat hidden perks offered on Southwest credit cards.

Southwest Credit Card 3x Points Promo

There’s a targeted offer out now for Southwest credit cardholders that you may not know about.

Southwest has had some great points promotions recently, and I just noticed a new one in my account — 3x points on gas, groceries, and dining through December 31, 2024.

That’s a pretty good earning rate on categories that most people use regularly (which don’t usually earn bonus points on Southwest cards). The best thing about this promo is that it’s valid all year long, and there’s no cap on how many points you can earn — but prior registration is required.

Even better, these points will count toward Southwest Companion Pass qualification. However, they won’t count toward A-List or A-List Preferred status.

A few other Southwest points multipliers are out there right now could stack with this new promo (but exactly how they may stack isn’t quite clear.)

  • Chase.com/mybonus: Some Southwest credit cardholders may be targeted for a bonus through chase.com/mybonus. This offer is for 5x to 10x points at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and/or Amazon for up to $1,000 in combined purchases from January 15, 2024, through March 31, 2024.
  • Earn 4x points on Southwest cards: Southwest also has an offer to earn 4x points on up to $2,000 in spending. This one is ending soon, on February 29, 2024.

These bonuses are all targeted, and you could be targeted for all of them! Regardless of how they end up stacking in the end, this is an excellent opportunity to earn Southwest points fast.

All of these promotions can be found in your online account by clicking on My Account and scrolling down to My Promotions.

For all of these points promotions, it’s important to remember that some things don’t earn points, including balance transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or other betting transactions, checks, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an annual fee.

Hot Tip:

Save 20% on Southwest Flights Within 14 Days

Another hidden deal you’ll want to look for in your Southwest Airlines account is a coupon for 20% off of a close-in booking.

This coupon is available to Southwest credit cardholders and can be found by looking in the Payment section of your online account. You’ll find it at the bottom of that page in the Promo Code section.

This 20% discount can be used on one-way or round-trip travel in any fare class (Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, or Business Select) for rewards bookings using Rapid Rewards points through January 11, 2025. The flight must be within 14 days of booking to qualify.

Final Thoughts

Southwest credit card holders will love these somewhat hidden perks.

Not only is there an opportunity to earn lots of Southwest points on categories that typically don’t earn bonus points on Southwest cards, but cardholders also get a 20% off coupon that can be used for last-minute reward flight bookings.
