We learned earlier this summer that Virgin Red signed a partnership with Synchrony and Mastercard to confirm the launch of the new Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard^® — just for U.S.-based travelers.

“Our new credit card with Synchrony and Mastercard will upgrade customers’ reward opportunities so they can earn Virgin Points on travel with Virgin companies, as well as on everyday purchases,” Andrew Burchett, chief loyalty officer and managing director at Virgin Red.

The card is now open for applicants, so here’s everything we know about the card.

Details of the New Virgin Red Card

New applicants of the Virgin Red card can take advantage of the welcome offer: Earn 40,000 Virgin Points after spending 3,000 in the first 90 days from account opening. Furthermore, this card’s earning rate can be rewarding for the right traveler:

• 3x points on purchases with Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels, and Virgin Voyages.
• 2x points on dining, grocery stores, select streaming services, and EV charging
• 1x points on all other eligible purchases

In addition to the welcome offer and earning rates, cardholders have the opportunity to earn other rewards:

• Spend $15,000 in a cardholder year and receive 1 personal perk; spend $30,000 in a cardholder year and select 2 personal perks: Virgin Atlantic Flying Club reward voucher for a companion seat or cabin upgrade, free night stay or hotel suite upgrade at Virgin Hotels, or $300 Bar Tab credit or Blue Extras perks package on a Virgin Voyages cruise.
• Earn 25 Tier Points toward elite status for $2,500 of qualifying spend, up to 50 Tier Points per month.
• Get 2,500 points when adding an authorized user (maximum of 4 users).
• 5,000-point anniversary bonus upon renewing the card.
• Receive a third night free at Virgin Hotels after booking 2 consecutive nights, once per year.
• No foreign transaction fees.

Overview of Virgin Red

Virgin Red is a fantastic loyalty program, as members can earn and redeem points on Virgin Voyages Cruises, stays at Virgin Hotels, and, of course, flights with Virgin Atlantic. Although it’s technically a different program than Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, members can seamlessly transfer their points between the 2 by linking their accounts.

With the addition of a new Virgin Red credit card, members can stack their rewards and earn even more points when using the card to book a Virgin flight, hotel, or cruise. The card is available through Virgin’s website, and you’ll simply need to enter your name and email to get first dibs when applications launch later this year.
