Ciao, Roma!

Norse Atlantic Airways is adding the Italian capital to its network of cities served nonstop from New York City.

From June 19, 2023, the Scandinavian start-up carrier will launch service from New York’s Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Rome (FCO) with fares starting from just $236 one-way.

“Customers on both sides of the Atlantic will be able to enjoy value, excellent onboard service, and comfort while traveling between these two culturally vibrant and exciting cities,” said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO at Norse Atlantic Airways. “The addition of Rome to our network will provide another gateway to Europe and strengthen our presence in New York.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Norse’s hot new service to Europe from JFK.

Low-cost Flights to Rome

Starting this summer, Norse’s new daily service will provide a low-cost alternative for New Yorkers looking to explore Rome and even the rest of Italy.

The route will kick off on June 19, 2023, from Rome, with the first Eastbound service from New York departing in the early hours of June 20, 2023.

The seasonal service will come to an end on October 28, 2023, and will operate with the following schedule:

  • Depart New York (JFK) 1 a.m. — Arrive Rome (FCO) 3:45 p.m.
  • Depart Rome (FCO) 7:30 p.m. — Arrive New York (JFK) 11 p.m.

The departure time from New York to Rome is very late, but it’s almost to be expected with such low fares.

Rome joins Berlin (BER), London (LGW), Oslo (OSL), and Paris (CDG) as Norse’s fifth nonstop European route from JFK.

Norse’s flights are operated by its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners with 282 economy seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. Up front, the premium cabin is comprised of 56 recliner seats in a 2-3-2 configuration.

Bottom Line: Norse Atlantic is a Scandinavian low-cost start-up with big plans to fill the gap that Norwegian left in its exit. The airline has previously launched routes to Europe from the U.S. with fares from just $120 one-way.

Final Thoughts

Low fares are always welcome, especially on flights to popular tourist spots in Europe like Rome.

The addition of Norse’s fifth low-cost route to Europe from New York will provide new travel opportunities for would-be travelers on both sides of the Atlantic.

We’ve been following Norse’s growth closely here at Upgraded Points and we’re excited to see which cities could be added to its route map next.
