The ultra-luxury, ultra-exclusive North Island resort in Seychelles, part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, is leaving the program this summer.

Here’s what you need to know and other properties you can book with Marriott points in Seychelles.

Ultra-Luxe Resort in Seychelles Leaves Marriott

North Island, a Luxury Collection Resort, Seychelles, is leaving Marriott Bonvoy on July 1, 2025, as first flagged by One Mile at a Time.

A note on the resort’s website reads, “As of 1 July 2025, North Island will no longer be affiliated with The Luxury Collection and will no longer be part of the Marriott Bonvoy brand portfolio. Reservations from 1st July 2025 onwards should be made via reservations@north-island.com, and for general inquiries, email info@north-island.com.”

North Island is 1 of the most exclusive resorts on the African continent and one of the most exclusive Marriott Bonvoy hotels in the world.

The resort has just 11 villas and is set on a private island 18 miles away from the capital, Mahe. Each villa has its own private plunge pool and direct access to the beach. A true private getaway, amenities include a spa, tons of water sports, 2 restaurants, an infinity pool, and opportunities to picnic along one of the resort’s 4 beaches.

Such a distinction comes at a serious cost. North Island gained a reputation as 1 of the most expensive resorts in Marriott’s portfolio. And that’s true whether you’re booking with cash or using Marriott Bonvoy points.

Cash prices are exorbitant — the cheapest is more than $6,600 per night this year!

The prices for awards are also exceptionally high. You’ll need 605,000 points per night for a stay here.

Other Points Options in Seychelles

Luckily, the East African archipelago has far more affordable options, including through the Marriott Bonvoy program. laïla, Seychelles, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, isn’t as swanky as North Island. However, it represents an excellent value for award stays, starting at 55,000 points nightly. Plus, you can bring the cost of your stay down with Marriott’s fifth night free.

But Hilton has the most extensive portfolio in Seychelles, boasting 7 resorts across the country. These include some ultra-luxe options, such as Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island (from 130,000 Hilton Honors points per night), to more wallet-friendly resorts, like DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles (from 70,000 points per night).

Final Thoughts

North Island leaving Marriott is surprising, but it’s unclear how many people were booking award stays at the resort due to its high prices. But don’t worry: you have a handful of other options when planning a trip to the Seychelles, including resorts starting at just 55,000 points per night.
