There’s been a lot of noise surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is set to head to North America in just a couple of weeks.

And now, if you live in New York City, you have a shot at scoring tickets to select matches for just $50 — and get free transportation to and from MetLife Stadium for the matches.

Here are all the details and how you can enter.

Besides the inevitable excitement and buzz surrounding the tournament, there’s been a lot of controversy over the cost of attending a match, as FIFA is using a dynamic pricing model for this year’s World Cup. Predictably, ticket costs for popular matches have been high, and many have written them off as simply too unaffordable.

However, the New York City Mayor’s Office has decided to address it by setting up a ticket lottery that gives city residents an opportunity to purchase tickets to select matches for just $50. Plus, winners will receive free round-trip bus transportation to MetLife Stadium for the match they attend. Here’s how it works.

The lottery will open at regnyctix.com at 10 a.m. ET on May 25, 2026, and close at 5 p.m. ET on May 30, 2026. There will be approximately 1,000 tickets offered, with about 150 tickets allotted for each of the 7 eligible matches:

Brazil vs. Morocco on June 13
France vs. Senegal on June 16
Norway vs. Senegal on June 22
Ecuador vs. Germany on June 25
Panama vs. England on June 27
The Round of 32 match on June 30
The Round of 16 match on July 5

Winners will be chosen randomly and will be able to purchase up to 2 tickets each. Ticket locations are in the upper bowl of MetLife Stadium. Remember, round-trip transportation is also included.

This is a good move from the NYC Mayor’s Office, as ticket prices have soared into the thousands of dollars for certain matches in the New York City metropolitan area, and even train fares to and from stadiums would have cost a family hundreds of additional dollars before they were reduced to $75 from the initial $150.

While we would have liked to see more than roughly 1,000 tickets available, this is still a great initiative, and we hope to see more promotions like this pop up at the last minute before the tournament gets underway.
