There’s a negative development for Priority Pass members who fly from the Honolulu Airport. Hawaiian Airlines will soon end access for Priority Pass to its Plumeria lounge, leaving it only for its own passengers.

Let’s see what’s changing, and what you can do about it.

Hawaiian Airlines Ends Plumeria Lounge Access for Priority Pass

Passengers departing or transiting Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) are losing access to the airport’s best Priority Pass lounge.

Beginning on April 1, passengers with a Priority Pass membership will not be admitted into the Hawaiian Airlines Plumeria Lounge in Terminal 1. Only Hawaiian Airlines customers traveling internationally in business class or to New York and Boston will be admitted after that date.

Until then, the Plumeria is open to Priority Pass members between 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. every day, but with the caveat that access may be limited on occasion if the space is overcrowded in order to prioritize Hawaiian’s own passengers.

The news was first reported by Travel Codex, and we confirmed it by verifying on the Priority Pass site. The page for the Plumeria Lounge clearly stated that it is leaving the Priority Pass program.

Priority Pass members still have a lounge available at HNL: the IASS Hawaii Lounge in Terminal 2. This lounge serves most airlines other than Hawaiian. It is open to Priority Pass members every day between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The end of access for Priority Pass members to the Plumeria Lounge may be tied to overcrowding and possibly to the work currently being carried out at the airport to open a new Hawaiian Airlines lounge.

The airline announced in January that it would open a flagship, premium lounge at its main hub. The lounge will be located at the entrance to the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1 and is expected to open at the end of 2027. According to the airline, it will be 5 times the size of the Plumeria.

Hawaiian is also now officially merged with Alaska Airlines, which has acquired it and will maintain 2 separate brands. Alaska is opening a new lounge in Honolulu as well.

Hot Tip:

There are still ways to get great value out of a Priority Pass membership, especially if it comes as a benefit of a premium travel rewards credit card. To see if there are lounges or even restaurants at the airports you frequent or plan to travel to, check out our Priority Pass Guide.

Final Thoughts

The end of access for Priority Pass members to the Hawaiian Airlines Plumeria Lounge in Honolulu is a negative piece of news, except for Hawaiian passengers, who won’t have to share the lounge anymore.

Hawaiian passengers will have a huge new lounge to enjoy, too, but not until 2027. As for Priority Pass members, they still have an option at the Honolulu airport — in the terminal that serves most airlines besides Hawaiian.
