With the winter freeze in full swing in some parts of North America, Porter Airlines is offering Canadians more opportunities to escape to warmer climates with 2 new routes to Florida.

The Toronto-based carrier’s new services are both from the capital city of Ottawa (YOW) and the first to Tampa starts today, November 22. Next week, Porter’s second new Florida-bound service will depart for Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

Let’s take a look at the details of Porter’s new routes.

Porter is boosting connectivity between Canada and Florida with 2 new nonstop services from Ottawa, which will run seasonally until the end of April 2025.

Service between Ottawa and Tampa (TPA) will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays with the following schedule:

  • Depart Tampa (TPA) at 11:10 a.m. and arrive in Ottawa (YOW) at 2:20 p.m.
  • Depart Ottawa (YOW) at 4:20 p.m. and arrive in Tampa (TPA) at 7:55 p.m.

And on Thursday, November 28, Porter will launch its service from Ottawa to Fort Myers (RSW) with round-trip flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The schedule is planned as follows:

  • Depart Fort Myers (RSW) at 11:35 a.m. and arrive in Ottawa (YOW) at 2:53 p.m.
  • Depart Ottawa (YOW) at 4:05 p.m. and arrive in Fort Myers (RSW) at 7:51 p.m.

These routes are scheduled for seasonal service to capture the migrating population of Canadians who prefer to spend their winters in the warmth of Florida.

Porter isn’t the only airline offering these seasonal routes from Ottawa, as Air Canada flies to Tampa and WestJet flies to Fort Myers.

That said, Porter is known for its excellent customer service and unique inflight experience — even when flying in economy — that will likely be enough to fill its planes on routes that are popular with sun-seekers.

“Our distinct approach to economy air travel will provide them with an elevated experience that no other airline in North America offers,” said Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Porter Airlines.

Final Thoughts

Porter’s 2 new routes from the Canadian capital to Florida are just a small part of the airline’s current network expansion across North America. Those looking to snowbird in Florida should be happy about these new routes.
