Porter Airlines, the Canadian airline based at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ), has announced its largest winter schedule. The airline says it will offer up to 180 daily flights to 34 destinations — including several in the U.S.

Let’s take a look.

New U.S. Porter Routes

Porter Airlines has announced 3 new U.S. routes coming to the airline this winter. They are:

  • West Palm Beach (PBI)
  • San Diego (SAN)
  • Palm Springs (PSP)

Additionally, the airline is adding a route to Canada’s Thunder Bay (YQT). Porter will fly its new routes from both Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The airline will fly its 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 on all routes, which is pretty interesting for a medium-haul flight.

However, the benefits of flying an E195 are pretty decent, especially on Porter. The E195 is arranged in a 2-2 configuration, which means no middle seats if you’re traveling with a friend. Porter also offers complimentary wine and beer (served in glassware), free snacks, and free inflight Wi-Fi.

“Becoming the second-largest carrier in Toronto is the result of our passengers’ response to Porter’s elevated experience and the service provided by the entire Porter team,” said Porter Airlines President Kevin Jackson. “As a result, we’ve become a major competitor across North America by challenging the definition of what it means to travel in economy.”

Bottom Line:

With the new service, Porter says it is the second-largest Canadian carrier flying to the U.S., behind Air Canada. The airline also said it has doubled its service to the Sunshine State.

How To Book

Flights for the new routes are now on sale. The cheapest one-way flights seem to be between Toronto and West Palm Beach, with tickets starting around $89 this fall. No carry-on bags are allowed, but you’ll be able to bring a checked bag for an extra fee.

Porter doesn’t have a co-branded credit card, but you can still earn points and miles for your purchase. You’ll just need to book using a travel credit card to maximize flight purchases.

Many of these routes are already served by Air Canada, but Porter’s cheaper prices may be enough to sway those loyalists away from Canada’s national airline.

Final Thoughts

Sunbirds will likely appreciate these new routes from Porter Airlines, which is offering new flights to California and Florida. With such low prices — plus perks like free drinks and snacks — Porter is becoming 1 of the best options to fly between the U.S. and Canada!
