You can now move points between the 2 programs, and elite flyers can match their Finnair status straight to Radisson’s hotel tiers. There’s real value here, but it isn’t spread evenly across all features.

How the Radisson Rewards and Finnair Plus Partnership Works

This new partnership introduces 2 main benefits.

First, it allows members to transfer points in both directions: Radisson Rewards points convert to Finnair Plus Avios, and Avios convert back into Radisson points. Transfers are available here. Second, it adds a status match that allows eligible Finnair Plus members to carry their airline elite tier over to the hotel program.

Radisson has more than 1,500 hotels across over 100 countries, with strong coverage in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific — regions where Finnair flyers tend to spend their time. You can transfer as often as you like, and there’s a 1,000-Avios minimum per exchange.

What the Points Transfers Are Really Worth

Think carefully before transferring between Finnair and Radisson. At Upgraded Points, we currently value Radisson points at 0.25 cents each, and Finnair Avios at 1.25 cents each, and those numbers change the story.

When transferring points from Radisson to Avios, the rate is 10:1. Transfer 10,000 Radisson points — worth about $25 — and you’ll get 1,000 Avios, which is worth roughly $12.50. You’ve cut your value in half.

The reverse is even less appealing. Avios convert to Radisson points at a 3:5 ratio, meaning 3,000 Avios (worth about $37.50) convert to 5,000 Radisson points, which is worth around $12.50. You’re giving up two-thirds of your value here.

Neither direction is a moneymaker. Only transfer when you’re a few points short of a specific award and the alternative is to buy points outright or lose the booking. As a routine strategy, it doesn’t make sense.

The Status Match Provides Better Value

The tier match is more compelling than the points transfer. Finnair Plus Silver and Gold members match to Radisson Premium, while Platinum and Platinum Lumo members match to Radisson VIP.

Premium status unlocks free room upgrades when available, a My Favorite Hotel selection, and the Discount Booster, which shaves up to 20% off your rate and earns 9 points per dollar. VIP goes further: It adds free breakfast for 2, access to exclusive VIP areas, a dedicated 24-hour VIP Contact Center, and a Discount Booster that earns 12 points per dollar.

Normally, Premium requires 5 nights or 3 stays, and VIP demands 30 nights or 20 stays. Eligible Finnair elites can now bypass those stay requirements through the status match.

Final Thoughts

If you fly Finnair with any regularity and have elite status, request the match and enjoy the hotel perks you didn’t have to earn. That’s the clear win.

The points transfers are another matter. At current valuations, moving points in either direction loses value, so save it for the rare moment you need a handful of points to top off an award. Treat this partnership as a status play with points transfers as a backup option.
