In case you haven’t heard, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to North America, and some matches will be played on U.S. soil.

The last time the World Cup was hosted in North America was in 1994, when the United States welcomed teams from around the globe. Today, the World Cup is the largest and most-watched sporting event in the world, drawing billions of viewers and creating unmatched energy for fans.

If you’re interested in attending, American Airlines is here to help. It will provide AAdvantage members with exclusive access to book tickets to some of the most highly anticipated matches of next year’s World Cup with their miles.

Let’s dive right into everything you need to know!

Redeem AAdvantage Miles for World Cup Tickets

Starting October 13, 2025, American Airlines AAdvantage members will be able to redeem miles for tickets to some of the most eagerly anticipated matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place next year in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Access will be prioritized based on level of elite status in the AAdvantage program:

  • ConciergeKey and Executive Platinum elite members will get access to tickets on October 13, 2025.
  • Platinum Pro, Platinum, and Gold elite members will get access on October 14, 2025.
  • Finally, all AAdvantage members will get access on October 15, 2025.

When the time comes around, visit this page, where you can log in to your AAdvantage account and browse available tickets on the appropriate date.

There’s some time before access is opened, so you will want to make sure you have enough AAdvantage miles in your account to purchase tickets. If you want to boost your mileage balance, the quickest way to do so is by opening an American Airlines co-branded credit card, many of which offer sizeable welcome bonus offers.

Remember, too, that you can now transfer Citi ThankYou Points at a 1:1 ratio to AA. Otherwise, you can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points at a less desirable 3:1 rate, or you can purchase AAdvantage miles.

If you’re an AAdvantage member — especially with elite status — and want to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup, there’s an excellent opportunity to redeem AAdvantage miles for tickets to some of the most exciting matches.

Access opens on October 13 for top-tier elite members, and by October 15, access will be open for all members.
