There’s a new option for using your Flying Blue miles. Redemptions for flights on French Polynesia-based Air Tahiti are now available online, and the cash copay after redeeming your miles is very reasonable.

How much do these awards cost, and where can they take you? Let’s check it out.

Where Does Air Tahiti Fly?

Air Tahiti — not to be confused with Air Tahiti Nui — flies from its base at Faa’a International Airport in Papeete (PPT) in French Polynesia, serving Pacific destinations in the region. Many of its destinations are within French Polynesia, served by turboprop aircraft, though the airline also flies to Rarotonga Island (RAR) in the Cook Islands.

Air Tahiti is often the best bet for those arriving at Faa’a airport in Papeete and continuing to other destinations in the region. The airline doesn’t have any long-haul services.

Redeem Flying Blue Miles on Air Tahiti

Flying Blue is the joint rewards program of Air France and KLM. You can now use Flying Blue miles to book Air Tahiti flights online.

Awards start at 15,000 miles plus less than $40 in taxes and fees. For example, flights from Papeete to Bora Bora (BOB) cost 15,000 miles one-way in economy, plus $36 in taxes and fees.

The longest route, between PPT and RAR, costs 30,000 miles per person.

Is This a Good Deal?

Whether this represents good value for your Flying Blue miles depends on the cash cost of the ticket. For most dates in 2025, Air Tahiti flights between Papeete and Bora Bora are available for $240 to $275 per person each way.

Using 15,000 miles plus $36 provides a redemption value of 1.36 to 1.59 cents per mile. We value Flying Blue miles at 1.3 cents apiece, meaning you can get slightly better than that on these flights. If you’d like to minimize your cash expenses while visiting the region, this isn’t a bad way to do it.

Final Thoughts

While it has a relatively small footprint compared to other airlines and doesn’t serve the U.S., Air Tahiti is a reliable carrier for those visiting French Polynesia. Those looking to save cash on flights in the region will be glad to know they can now redeem Flying Blue miles on Air Tahiti flights, paying 15,000 miles one-way for most of the airline’s network. Its single international flight costs more at 30,000 miles per person, and cash fees on these awards are very reasonable.
