With tax season approaching, credit card issuers like American Express and Chase are offering cardholders the chance to save money on tax preparation software. In turn, you can save money on your 2025 taxes.

Let’s look closer at these offers.

Credit Card Offers for Tax Savings

Just in time for the busy tax season, card issuers like American Express and Chase are offering savings on tax prep software for those who prefer to do their own taxes. We’ve also seen offers from Bank of America, Capital One, and Citi, so you should check all of your accounts for offers.

We were targeted for several Chase Offers and Amex Offers to enjoy some nice savings when filing taxes with popular tax software programs like TurboTax, H&R Block, and others.

For example, you can get a one-time $20 statement credit (enrollment required) by using the card with the offer to pay for a TurboTax package to file your taxes. This offer expires on April 16, 2025.

Amex isn’t the only issuer offering big savings on tax prep software. You’ll also want to check your Chase Offers, as we received an offer for $20 cash-back when spending $39 or more at TurboTax, valid until April 16, 2025 (enrollment required).

Hot Tip:

Each major credit card issuer provides customers with exclusive, targeted offers to save or earn rewards when they shop at eligible merchants. We’ve been known to praise Amex Offers here at Upgraded Points, as they have helped us save lots of money from our Amex credit card.

Is It Worth It?

If you are one of the approximately 75% of U.S. taxpayers who file their taxes electronically with tax preparation software, these offers from Chase, Amex, and other credit issuers on tax prep software services will surely be useful.

Additionally, if you pay your taxes with a credit card, you will keep some more cash in your pocket because tax payment processors have recently reduced their fees for credit card users. As a result, you not only earn valuable travel rewards from paying your taxes with a credit card (and save on credit card fees when settling your tax bill) but also save money by paying for your tax prep software with your eligible credit card, assuming you enroll in one of these offers first.

Final Thoughts

If you prepare your own taxes and rely on one of the many tax preparation software options available to consumers, there’s a good chance that you’ll save money on your taxes this year, thanks to your credit card.

Keep in mind that enrollment is necessary, so be sure to add the offers to your eligible card prior to purchasing any tax software or paying for any filing fees.
