Singapore Airlines’ lesser-known route from the U.S. to the U.K. is proving such a success that the airline will be increasing its frequency from March 31, 2024.

The carrier will up the frequency of its fifth-freedom route between Houston (IAH) and Manchester (MAN) in the North of England from 3 to 5 times per week, returning to its pre-pandemic schedule.

Here’s all the information you need to know.

Singapore Airlines’ Houston to Manchester Service

Thanks to its world-renowned customer service and inflight experience — no matter the cabin class — Singapore’s service from Houston to Manchester provides an excellent alternative for reaching the U.K. and beyond.

From March 31, 2024, through October 27, 2024, flight SQ53 will depart from Houston on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the following schedule:

  • Depart Houston (IAH) 7:10 p.m. — Arrive Manchester (MAN) 10:05 a.m. (+1)

The aircraft will then continue to Singapore after a short stop in Manchester.

  • Depart Manchester (MAN) 11:40 a.m. — Arrive Singapore (SIN) 7:40 a.m. (+1)

The return service operating as SQ51 will depart Singapore bound for Houston via Manchester in the early hours of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the following schedule:

  • Depart Singapore (SIN) 2:25 a.m. — Arrive Manchester (MAN) 9:10 a.m.
  • Depart Manchester (MAN) 10:40 a.m. — Arrive Houston (IAH) 2:30 p.m.
Hot Tip:

The Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program offers monthly discounts of up to 30% off redemptions on select routes, known as Spontaneous Escapes.

The route is what is known in the industry as a fifth-freedom route. This is when airlines are granted permission to carry paying passengers between 2 countries that are not their home country.

Connect Seamlessly Onto Flights to and From Scotland

Believe it or not, Texas and Scotland have something in common: they’re both nodes in the global oil economy.

This has meant an unlikely alliance in the form of an interline agreement between Singapore Airlines and Scottish national carrier, Loganair.

The interline agreement has been placed on Loganair’s services between Manchester and Aberdeen (ABZ) on the North Coast of Scotland, a hub for global energy.

The business-focused interline agreement also provides the opportunity for tourists wishing to explore all that Scotland has to offer.

Final Thoughts

Singapore Airlines must be pleased with the way its fifth-freedom flight between Houston and Manchester is performing in the wake of the pandemic, as it’ll soon up the frequency on the route. This not only provides business travelers in the oil industry with more options for getting to and from 2 of the globe’s important energy centers, but it also gives leisure travelers more opportunities to visit cities in the U.K. that offer a different experience than London.
