This newest promotion from Southwest will give you a promotion code for 50% off your next ticket once you’ve met the offer requirements. The terms of this promotion are especially interesting:

• You must register for the promotion
• Purchase a cash flight (round-trip or 2 one-ways) before August 3, 2023
• For travel by September 30, 2023
• Not valid for flights redeemed with Rapid Rewards points
• You must include your Rapid Rewards number when booking

You’ll then receive a promotion code giving you 50% off a flight:

• Book with the promotion code from October 17, 2023, to November 23, 2023
• Valid for Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares
• For travel from January 8, 2024, to March 6, 2024
• Blackout dates include:

  • February 23 to 25, 2024

Is It Worth It?

There’s no denying that this promotion has a lot of strings. After all, do you have a round-trip flight you can book within the next 2 days that leaves within the next 2 months but also have plans for a trip that you can book in October but won’t actually fly until 2024? There probably aren’t many of us that do.

That being said, if you can take advantage of this, the promotion can be fairly lucrative. You’ll note that there’s no fare minimum or maximum on these flights. There’s also no limitation on routes for which you can use the code.

Say, for example, that you’ve booked a cheap ticket from Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) for $90.

Whether or not you actually need to go to Las Vegas and back doesn’t matter. You’re simply finding the cheapest flights possible. You’ll then be provided with a 50% off booking code, which can be used to book something like Chicago (MDW) to Maui (OGG).

In this example, you’d be able to save $367.20 on your round-trip flight. Subtract the cost of your spare flight and you’re still saving $277.24 overall.
