Spirit Airlines is expanding its route network with new nonstop service from Birmingham, Alabama (BHM) to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL).

This will be the first time Spirit operates service in the state of Alabama when it launches this new route to and from Birmingham. The route will commence on October 10, 2024, and will be the first nonstop link between the 2 destinations.

“We can’t wait to welcome aboard Birmingham travelers looking for both an affordable and convenient way to enjoy Fort Lauderdale’s beautiful beaches,” said John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines.

New Low-Cost Nonstop Service From Birmingham to Fort Lauderdale

Spirit Airlines‘ newest route between Birmingham and South Florida will begin service on October 10, 2024, according to the schedule below:

Depart Fort Lauderdale (FLL) 11:35 a.m. — Arrive Birmingham (BHM) 12:20 p.m.
Depart Birmingham (BHM) 1:15 p.m. — Arrive Fort Lauderdale (FLL) 4 p.m.

The flight is scheduled with a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes and will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 economy seats.

In addition to being the airline’s first route from Alabama to South Florida, this new route will conveniently offer residents of Alabama’s largest city and surrounding areas 1-stop connections to Latin America and the Caribbean.

“This is a great day for our community,” said Darlene Wilson, vice-chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority Board. “Spirit Airlines is showing a tremendous amount of confidence in this market, and we are thrilled to have this new option available to travelers.”

To promote the new route, Spirit is offering limited-time introductory fares starting at $69 for travel from October 10 to November 19, 2024. All prices are one-way and require a 14-day advance purchase.
