Spirit Airlines Sale — Details

Spirit Airlines is well-known for its cheap fares, and a $40 flight is the definition of cheap. Plus, it’s pretty rare these days to find flights that cheap surrounding a major event, but that’s exactly what Spirit is doing right now.

Bookings are available August 4-10, 2025, and you need to book at least 21 days before your flight’s departure to get the discount. Eligible travel dates are August 23-September 8, 2025. Do note there are blackout dates: August 28-September 2.

To enjoy these savings, you need to book directly at spirit.com or at a Spirit Airlines ticket counter.

You’ll fly to New York LaGuardia (LGA) with this deal, and eligible departure airports include the following:

  • Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT)
  • Chicago, Illinois (ORD)
  • Columbus, Ohio (CMH)
  • Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas (DFW)
  • Detroit, Michigan (DTW)
  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL)
  • Houston, Texas (IAH)
  • Miami, Florida (MIA)
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR)
  • Orlando, Florida (MCO)

And while this sale advertises flights starting at $40, we’ve found them for even less. Here’s a $31 nonstop flight from Columbus, Ohio to New York City on September 3:

Hot Tip:

To get the most value out of your purchase, be sure to pay with one of our favorite travel credit cards. These cards can give you a nice return on spending and also add travel protections to your trip in case of missed or canceled flights, for example.

Is It Worth It?

If you’re looking for cheap travel, this is a great deal — and that’s true whether you’re heading to the U.S. Open or just want to get to New York City in general.

As a low-cost airline, remember that Spirit Airlines flights don’t include things like checked baggage. You’ll pay extra for these as well, but if you can fly with just a small personal item, the fares are attractive.
