New Spirit Airlines Status Match Challenge

To participate in Spirit’s status match program, you’ll need to hold elite status with one of the 7 eligible airline programs (detailed below). Depending on your elite status in other programs, you can qualify for Spirit Airlines Free Spirit Silver or Free Spirit Gold. You’ll need to submit your application by January 31, 2025, to be considered.

If you match your status to Free Spirit Silver, you’ll enjoy the following benefits:

  • Free Shortcut Security and Boarding
  • Free exit row seat assignment
  • Overweight baggage waiver
  • Same-day standby

If you match your status to Free Spirit Gold, you’ll get all of the Free Spirit Silver benefits, plus:

  • Earn points at a rate of 10x for fares and 20x for À La Smarte Options
  • First checked and carry-on bag
  • Free inflight beverages and snacks
  • Zone 1 Boarding
  • Free Flight Flex (ability to modify your reservation)
  • Pet fee waiver
  • Group 2/3/4/5 seat selection at purchase

Once approved, you’ll hold Free Spirit status immediately for 90 days. Just note that you’ll be ineligible to take part in another Spirit status match opportunity for another 2 years.

How To Status Match to Spirit Airlines

First, you’ll need to provide your name, email address, and Free Spirit membership number. Once you advance to the next page, it’ll ask for the elite status that you hold, the loyalty number, and photo proof to verify your status. The form will also ask what status tier you’re requesting in the match.

You’ll need to have earned this other status, to be clear. Status you got a few days ago from another airline status match won’t suffice.

You can track your application status to see where it is in the process. Spirit says it can take up to 5 days for your new status to reflect in your account.

How To Extend Your Spirit Airlines Status

To keep your new elite status past 90 days, you’ll need to meet the following thresholds:

  • Free Spirit Silver: Earn 500 Spirit Qualification Points (SQPs) on flights operated by Spirit or by spending on the Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard®.
  • Free Spirit Gold: Earn 1,250 Spirit Qualification Points (SQPs) via flights or credit card spending.
Hot Tip:

SQPs are earned for each $1 spent on Spirit fares and add-ons or each $10 spent on the Free Spirit World Elite card.
