Go Big, Go Comfy, and Go — they’re gone.

Spirit has rebranded its fare bundles for premium seats, bringing the names in line with what other carriers call theirs.

“We’re simplifying choices so travelers can better understand and compare their options and the exceptional value that Spirit provides,” said Rana Ghosh, senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Spirit.

Let’s unpack the details.

Spirit’s New Premium Fare Bundle Names

Spirit Airlines is considered by many as the most ultra of ultra-low-cost airlines.

Its reputation means travelers who prefer to fly with full-service carriers like American, Delta, JetBlue, or United might overlook Spirit altogether when searching for a flight.

The new names — Spirit First, Premium Economy, and Value — are more similar to the fare types that those full-service carriers offer. It’s hoped that this change could influence those who’ve never flown Spirit to compare like-for-like offerings to their usual carrier of choice.

“These updates will bring more travelers in the know that Spirit offers one of the industry’s most affordable options for a premium experience,” said Ghosh in a statement.

Spirit First

Replacing Go Big, Spirit First fares still come with Spirit’s comfy Big Front Seat. Additional premium benefits include 1 free carry-on, 1 free checked bag, no change or cancellation fees, priority check-in, priority boarding with reserved overhead bin space, complimentary snacks and drinks (including alcohol), and access to Wi-Fi.

Premium Economy

It’s not just the name Go Comfy that Spirit is scrapping. As of July 9, select routes will feature new extra-legroom seats as Spirit starts phasing out the much-loved blocked middle seat.

Premium Economy fares also come with a free carry-on bag, no change or cancellation fees, and priority boarding with reserved space in the overhead bins.

Value

The Value name replaces Spirit’s Go fare. The same as before, this fare gives passengers the freedom to pick and choose only the add-ons they need.

Final Thoughts

Spirit hopes that by rebranding its premium fares, it might attract more passengers who would usually fly premium cabins with full-service carriers. Perhaps the names were an obstacle.

Ultimately, even with the new names, you’ll still be flying Spirit, and that experience won’t be changing.
