IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for a new hotel — Staybridge Suites Mina Al Arab in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

Here’s what you need to know.

A New IHG Hotel on Hayat Island

Hayat Island is an artificial island located along the Arabian Gulf. It will include a mix of hotel and residential properties, dining, shopping, and entertainment facilities.

The 156-room Staybridge Suites Mina Al Arab will offer a mix of studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments across 14 stories. Amenities will include a fitness center and restaurant.

Guests will have beach access and can use facilities at the nearby InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa.

Right now, it’s unclear when the hotel will open for guests.

IHG hopes to tap into the growing trend of combining business and leisure travel. According to one report, Ras Al Khaimah was named the fourth-best city in the world for expatriates.

“Ras Al Khaimah is a breath of fresh air for domestic and international tourists alike, with its unique blend of natural beauty, history, and adventure,” said Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, IHG Hotels & Resorts India, Middle East, and Africa.

Bottom Line:

Staybridge Suites Mina Al Arab is the second IHG property to open in the Ras Al Kaminah emirate in as many years. The InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa opened in 2022.

Booking IHG Hotels & Resorts in UAE

IHG has nearly 3 dozen hotels across the UAE in cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. You’ll find a broad range of IHG’s brands across the Emirates, including Hotel Indigo, InterContinential, and Voco.

Like many hotels in the Middle East, rates are typically affordable regardless of whether you pay in cash or use points. For instance, a 1-night stay at Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown will cost just $130 or 28,000 IHG points per night for dates next March. Even high-end hotels such as InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa will only set you back $200 per night (or 30,000 points), depending on your travel dates.

Fortunately, earning IHG One Rewards points is pretty simple, as you can transfer Bilt Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards to IHG at a 1:1 ratio or earn points through a welcome bonus or daily spending on a co-branded IHG credit card.

Final Thoughts

While we don’t know much about the new Staybridge Suites property coming to the UAE, this announcement is an excellent reminder of how affordable IHG properties are in the country. So, while we wait for the hotel to open, this could be a great time to check out other IHG hotels in the region.
