IHG’s fast-growing Vignette Collection brand is coming to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. When it fully opens next year, Straylight Yas, Vignette Collection, will add nearly 1,400 rooms to IHG’s portfolio.

Here’s a glimpse of the resort.

Massive Resort Coming to Abu Dhabi Next Year

Straylight Yas, Vignette Collection will open in Abu Dhabi in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The project will transform 6 existing hotels on Yas Island, an artificial island in Abu Dhabi, into a single Vignette Collection resort. All told, the resort will have 1,389 guest rooms and suites. Amenities will include direct beach access, golf and beach villas, a beach club, an open-air theater, and dining options.

“Being selected to upgrade the existing Yas Plaza hotels and Aldar’s desert resort in the Al Dhafra region under the Vignette Collection brand underscores IHG’s unique ability to provide exceptional hospitality that meets the diverse needs of today’s travelers while supporting our partners’ wider tourism sector ambitions to stimulate broader economic growth,” said Haitham Mattar, IHG’s managing director of India, Middle East, and Africa.

Bottom Line:

This has been a big week for IHG in the UAE. Just yesterday, the chain announced another Vignette Collection property in Dubai. The Ciel, Vignette Collection, will become the world’s tallest all-hotel tower when it opens in the Dubai Marina in 2025.

About Vignette Collection

If you aren’t familiar, Vignette Collection is part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio and is one of its newest brands.

The brand is known for offering “one-of-a-kind stays” in unique destinations. While Vignette Collection has only 12 hotels open so far, over 2 dozen more are in the pipeline. IHG clearly sees the Vignette Collection as crucial to its growth strategy. The chain said it will grow Vignette Collection to more than 100 properties within the next decade.

For a smaller brand, Vignette Collection is making big waves already, giving IHG One Rewards loyalists solid options for affordable cash and points stays. For instance, Th8 Palm Beach Resort in Dubai starts at $170 per night next May, and awards start at just 16,000 IHG One Rewards points.

Given the low award rates here, you’re best off using IHG points. Luckily, they’re easy to earn through transferring Bilt Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards, opening an IHG credit card, or other qualifying activities.

Final Thoughts

This is really interesting news from IHG, which has announced its second Vignette Collection in the UAE this week. Yas Island is home to attractions such as the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and more, so this resort will likely be popular for tourists and locals alike.
