Swiss International Air Lines has shared that Miami (MIA) will be the first destination to see its brand-new premium economy cabin.
This all-new product will make its debut on the airline’s Zurich (ZRH) to Miami (MIA) route from early March 2022. Shortly after, the product will be introduced on the Zurich (ZRH) to San Francisco (SFO) route in mid-April 2022.
“Our premium economy class should be especially appealing to travelers who have flown economy class to date and would like to enhance their inflight comfort and convenience,” said Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Chief Commercial Officer for SWISS.
Let’s take a look at the new product and its planned rollout.
U.S. Cities First To Welcome SWISS’ New Premium Economy
SWISS operates just 1 daily flight between Zurich (ZRH) and Miami (MIA), meaning you’re guaranteed to experience this brand-new product if you book a premium economy ticket on the route.
By the time premium economy reaches San Francisco (SFO) in mid-April, the airline will have increased its current 5 flights per week to a daily service. Third in line for SWISS premium economy is São Paulo (GRU) in Brazil, which will see premium economy from the end of April.
The plan is to install premium economy on each of the airline’s 12 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. For now, though, only the aircraft registered HB-JNH has been updated with the new cabin. That plane has been out of service for just under a month for retrofitting after its last flight from San Francisco (SFO) to Zurich (ZRH) on February 6, 2022.
Hot Tip: For a limited time, guests flying in the economy cabin will be able to upgrade to premium economy for a fee if there’s availability at the airport.
All-New Premium Economy
One of the most interesting things about SWISS’ premium economy product is the seat itself. It features a hard-shell design, which means passenger space won’t be restricted when those in front recline their seats.
As you’d expect with premium economy, the food and beverage offerings will be a considerable upgrade compared to what you’d receive in economy.
Guests will be served a non-alcoholic welcome drink and will be given what the airline describes as a “sustainably produced toiletries bag” that will come in a variety of shapes and colors depending on where you’re departing from.
Final Thoughts
SWISS is the latest airline to debut its take of the increasingly popular premium economy cabin.
Those living in Miami (MIA) and San Francisco (SFO) will be the first to have the chance to experience this product on flights to Zurich (ZRH) very soon.
