Thailand is moving to a new digital form for foreign visitors, replacing the TM6 arrival card you fill out when arriving in the country. The good news is that you can fill out this new digital form before arriving in Thailand, potentially decreasing your waiting time at passport control.

The new Digital Arrival Card for foreigners goes into effect today, May 1, 2025, and it will be mandatory to fill it out.

Here’s what travelers to Thailand need to know about the new process.

Thailand’s New Digital Arrival Card for Foreigners

As of today, May 1, 2025, foreign visitors to Thailand will need to fill out the Digital Arrival Card, which you can access here. The new digital form replaces the paper-based TM6 arrival card, and this system applies to passengers arriving by air, land, or sea.

Use of the digital form is now mandatory for all foreigners visiting Thailand. This form is free and can be completed up to 3 days before arrival in the kingdom.

Passengers transiting Thailand (not going through passport control) and entering with a Border Pass won’t need to fill out the Digital Arrival Card, but all other foreigners entering the Southeast Asian nation will need to use it. You can submit an individual or group application.

Benefits of the New Digital Arrival Card in Thailand

The Thai government is expecting the new online forms to provide several benefits, including a reduced administrative burden and improved data accuracy. Benefits travelers will care about include faster processing upon arrival in the country, thus reducing wait times, and the ability to update your information before arrival if plans change or you made an error on the form.

This digital form is available online and can be filled out in advance before arriving, which should help reduce waiting time at passport control.
