It’s not every day that we report on a new hotel opening in Alaska, especially a points hotel. Hyatt has just opened the Wildbirch Hotel in Anchorage — and it’s a fantastic option if you want to spend your points or use a free night certificate.

That’s especially true given that Hyatt’s presence in Alaska has been, until now, limited to Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties.

Let’s take a look!

First JdV by Hyatt property in Alaska

Now open in Anchorage’s Mushing District, the brand-new Wildbirch Hotel boasts 252 guest rooms and suites.

Amenities include an outdoor deck, fire pits, electric vehicle charging stations, laundry facilities, a fitness center, and meeting spaces.

The hotel will also feature a signature restaurant, serving “twists on Alaska staples, all with a touch of Pan-American Latin flair,” a coffee bar, and a beer tasting room, which is set to open this fall.

Hyatt says The Wildbirch Hotel is the city’s “first lifestyle boutique property and newest hotel” in 2 decades.

The Wildbirch also has another important distinction. It is the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Alaska. If you aren’t familiar, JdV by Hyatt is a portfolio of upscale, independent hotels in some of the most desirable locations worldwide, such as New York, Berlin, and Taipei.

Hyatt has a small presence in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, with just 2 other hotels: Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown and Hyatt House Anchorage.

How To Book

The Wildbirch Hotel is an excellent value for a high-end hotel in Anchorage. Cash rates start at around $200 per night for dates this October.

The Wildbirch Hotel is a Category 4 hotel in the World of Hyatt program. Award stays cost between 12,000 and 18,000 points per night, depending on dates.

Thanks to its Category 4 status, this hotel is an excellent option for using a Category 1-4 Free Night Certificate. You can earn these by participating in the Brand Explorer promotion, staying 30 qualifying nights (or earning 50,000 base points), through Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards, or by having a personal Hyatt credit card and paying the annual fee.

Additionally, you can earn 500 bonus points for qualifying nights at The Wildbirch Hotel between June 12 and September 30, 2025.

Hot Tip:

Running low on World of Hyatt points? You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to the program at a 1:1 ratio. You can also earn points through welcome bonus offers and spending on Hyatt’s co-branded credit cards.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt is growing in Anchorage, Alaska, by opening a swanky JdV by Hyatt boutique hotel in the heart of the city. This is Hyatt’s first high-end hotel in the city, and it’s a fantastic deal if you’re paying cash, using points, or redeeming a Category 1-4 Certificate.
